Is it possible for the PS3 to upconvert DVDs? If not is this a hardware shortcoming or can this be fixed with a software update? I want to know if I should go out and buy an upconverting DVD player.

I thought it was said at one point upscaling would be added in a future firmware, but i could be wrong.

PS3 dont not upconvert dvds. you will have to get a standalone upconverting dvd player like the Oppo

As of yet, they dont, but they will with a future firmware, so why not wait on that before buying more equipment...?
