Hi All,

After thinking about taking the plunge - and researching for ages - I bought a Nokia Dbox2 on ebay yesterday.

I'm pretty good technically (tho my network skills are growing) - so I think im up to the challenge of getting one of these puppies running! ;)

The auction says it's the latest model Nokia do... (link to item = http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...s_promot_widget

Item # = 260118199429 )
Few questions:

1. Does anyone have any experiences on these units - are they any good / problems etc?

2. Does it use 1 or 2 intel/amd chips?

3. I've seen Nokia boxes have a memory upgrade socket, and use printer memory. Is there any benefit to maxing this out? What's the max memory they can handle?

4. What's the best image for this box on VirgMedia, in Huddersfield?
I'm thinking of using commando 8, but heard good things about Don 4.2?
Has anyone got any screen shots of these images?

5. Im thinking of fitting an HDD (I know where to get the kits from). Is there enough room inside this unit to fit the HDD and PSU internally?

I've used the AD forums for other things in the past (video enc etc), and I must say this DB2 forum looks great - good to see a lot of helpful, active members here!

Thanks for anyhelp you can offer... :)

Thanks for that Fekker,

Yeah, already seen that - just thinking if thats the older, larger unit?
The one i've bought seems to be a more slim line unit...

Thanks mate,

I'll look at getting the HDD in it later.

Any thoughts on the best / favorite image?

Different images give different results on the same make of box, you find one that's stable & stick to it. If you want IDE support then Commando & Sportster are worth looking at.

Cheers Fekker,

Only leaves the question of the memory upgrade - how much can it handle and what's the benefit?
