HI I've just flashed my starview box with an api file 260 when I switch on the green lights are flashing back and for but nothing happens. please can anyone help

Watch out when flashing with 260, If you have a clone box,you will kill the box.It will not reboot if you switch off at mains.
There is a 260file especially for clone boxes

if the remote has two large grooves on the back its a clone. genuine remotes only have 1.

mine don't have any. Ive cins the pics on different forum, but can't tell if it is clone or not. I bought it in Feb 06. ANy chances this could be a clone or version 1?

HI all heres an update good news I reflashed the box with 257eE_api and it's working fine. I originaly flashed it with 260_api and 257 & 259_api's all were posted by asad78611. All these files did not work on my box and left it in a state of limbo. It is a genuine starview box. Hi I have checked the photos and am now confused it seems that my box is a copy but my remote is definatly a a real starview acording to the photos. How can thi sbe because the box was brand new when I purchased it but it is a clone looking at the 2 pics. Can anyone help because I dont wanna put 260 firmware on in case it desroys the box!

the remote tells me that you have a genuine first generation starview. It should be ok with the new firmware.

thanks for the quick response Steo.
After thinking about it I am going to check with a friend that our remotes have not been switched because the more I look at the pictures my box is identical to the clone box. It is smaller than the original.

the clones were based on the first generation starview which was a smaller box than the starview that is on sale now.

257 will not autoupdate. we are waiting on the fixed ver300 which will not cause channel freeze. Hopefully it will be released soon.

Tried flashing my box with version 3 today. I had to buy a USB to Serial convertor cable as my laptop only has USBs.
Went through the process, clicked on download, download started, but always stayed on 0%. Had troule locating COM port initially, selecting COM3 was the only one that worked.
Do you think the convertor is the problem? it came with software and seemed OK.
Maybe daft question, should I have been connected to internet during this process.

The usb to serial adapter takes about 20 mins to transfer the file compared to flashing from a real serial port which takes about 1 minute. give it a bit of time and see what happens.

Hi Hallcross. Yeah I had the same problem when I changed from serial port to USB port. It selects com port 3 but this never works you have to maually configure it to ports 1 or 2. It will might say these ports are currently in use but providing you havent got anything plugged in to them it just means that they have been in use in the past. Once you maunually configure the ports to the USB you will find that the lead will work and as Steo says it does take so much longer but you will start to see it downloading straight away - just slower. Hope this helps!

Hi, i have tried to set my USB connector to 1 and 2 but it does not work. i said the default transfer rate on the connector to 11250 to match the gtrom loader but i am still getting update failed. Any one have any other ideas??
