I understand that you have some questions with regard to connecting to Xbox using your accounts.
Each gamertag is required to be linked to a Windows Live passport and can only be use one at a time using a console to join a multiplayer game. The console has a Media Access Control address that is being authenticated by the server for you to be able to participate at each game; this authenticates your ownership of an Xbox console regardless of the Hard Drive. To take ownership of the item downloads you will have to connect the Hard Drive into your console, the server where you download the items from, authenticates the console that is connecting to it rather than the Hard Drive. Paid content from Xbox Live Marketplace is usable only on the Xbox 360 console to which it was downloaded and to the gamertag that has been used to download it.
If issues should arise from redownloading the items using the same gamertag please call the phone support at your ealiest convenience. You should be in the correct department in order to address your inquiry correctly.

Yeah, they're telling you that you can use your previously bought stuff on another 360 as long as you recover that particular gamertag from the 360 you wish to use the content on.

im buyin a new console but im gonna format the hard drive on the banned console then put it on the new one without going on live and format it again,just to be on the safe side because im not getting banned again.an xbox 360 without live sucks and i dont want 2 of em!

Its really a risk i dont wanna take.Getting banned again would really suck, plus i can still download everything ive already payed for so i dont have to pay twice for them.

i think time has answered the question about formating the hdd from a banned console before putting it on a new xbox...the answer is, it does not have to be formated, there is no risk!
the fact is i was banned on the second day of bannings, as soon as it happened i changed the hdd to a dif. system and it is on live everyday.
so to sum it up format if you want but there is no need to, unless you dont have nothing else to do!

me and my friend have been having a harddrive that has been previously attached to a banned 360, on an unbanned 360 now for 3-4 weeks approx.
Memnock , you are nice at making story's. but none of this is true. its called speculation. phailure
And even after formatting, your harddrive serial isn't going to be ANY different...because the hdd serial is located in sector 16 of the drive, which ISN'T formatted when using the 360. woooo

Obviously you haven't read every thing I said in this post. Read it and then come back to me. Also I discover ones you start saving games with a new 360 to a old hard drive it can be formatted. I guess MS put it in as a pre-caution measure to prevent hard drive formatting if you brought your HDD to a friend house. Nice mature way posting and going over what I read. What are you even 18 years old?

Yeah, they need to lock it. But so far, I put my HDD from my banned one on my unbanned one and didn't even have to recover my gamertag. It works so far.

Im with him on this one but saved my gamertag link to a memory card n reformatted my HDD and put the linked tag back on n booted up on a new 360 and now im back on live.

I am having a hard time actually finding a site that has the actual statment from microsoft, does anyone know of a site that I can find it on. You would think that xbox.com would have it but I cant find it.
