On some movies, why does it have two of the same movie? I know some have a widescreen and some have a fullscreen version, but these are the same size/length and they look the same.

Often the second one doesn't really exist. The dvd author just creates a second set of IFOs to make the disk look twice as big so as to fool copying software into thinking it has to shrink it twice as much.

Some releases have a wide screen and full screen version on the same disc. Others are shot from different angles, Daredevil comes to mind. I don't think multiangle is a complete duplicate though.

Other movies have multiple main titles when they include alternate endings. I have seen multiple main movie titles shot in different languages as in The Polar Express for example.

The different audio and subtitle tracks are separate from the video. With most backup software, unwanted audio and subtitles can be removed without altering the video. You don't have a separate video for each language. However, you often have multiple languages for a factory DVD movie.
