I was looking to buy a new DVD drive but it talks about a board key.What does this mean

evey xbox 360 has a key that locks the dvd drive to the motherboard. you will need to take the key out of your old dvd drive and insert it into the new one.

it is a software key not an actual phisical key. it is in the firmware of the dvd drive

i know im sounding like i have no brain but how would u transfer from existing to new dvd-rom

you will need to read the firmware from the old dvd drive by going throught most of the steps for flashing the firmware. then do the same for the other dvd drive. then you use a program to take the code out of the firmware. tehn you can insert it in to the other firmware and reflash the new dvd drive. you will want to do a google search to find a tutorial on how to do that,
