hello all. (newbee here... hopefully i grow to be a jedi lol)

first i will start with my computer specs... (to help with, the up coming q's)

WINXP+SP2+MEDIA CENTER
core duo 1.66GHZ
1GB ram
120HD
DVD multi-drive
DirectX9c Video 7300
(i do not run this computer as a server)

this is the situation i am in...

I can "back up" and make "images" of CD based PC games...
But, i am not able to do the same for DVD based PC games!!!

when i try to do an image of a DVD PC game, a Notice pops up.
saying... FAT32 & FAT16 (somthin... somthin) 4GB (somthin).

I have done a bit of research on this problem.

(correct me if i'm wrong... please)

Apparently, to dump/burn (make an image) to HD, and if it is over 4GB, i need to have a NTFS system... i have located this file on my computer (as an extension) on my desk top [NTFS converter]. Yet i am hesitating to press the button, untill i find out if it is really worth it.

My Questions are..........

Q1) Is it a good idea to convert my C:/ drive to NTFS, and have my (partitioned) D:/ drive stay at FAT32?

Q2) What are all the cons of having NTFS (apart from a one way road, not to be able to go back to a FAT32 system, unless reboot)?

Q3) Why does'nt Microsoft automatically install this on their OS, if it is suppose to be real good. (bonus curiosity question... lol)?

Q4) will all programs/software work ok/good on a NTFS system?

Q5) does a duo core 1.66GHZ mean a total of 3.2GHZ (approx)... so i know which games to buy?

Q6) if i "press the button", what is the worst case scenario?

Thank you... (hopefully "scuba" reads this... he seems to know a bit... according to other threads)

Oh yeah........

and what programs/softwares is out there (for free, or trial) that i can use to do images/backup copies of DVD PC GAMES.
I need somthing that does 1:1 copy.
and to be able to read all the bad sectors.

i have tried...

-cloneCD (no good for DVD)

-Alcohol120% (if this is any good what options do i choose to bypass all of the copyright protections... and there is no choice for DVD PC games... eg... only; PS2, CD, VCD, laserlock, safedisc etc... etc...
nothing about DVD.)

-Nero StartSmart (Nero 6, i think?) this is no good aswell. (for DVD PC GAMES that is)

-CloneDVD (same as Nero)

-AnyDVD (same family "slysoft" as CloneCD & CloneDVD... still no good)

-GameCloner (it is suppose to be able to do all disc types!!! But there is no option for: speed control or Bypassing copyrights!!!
I have tried many, many times with "GameCloner" to no avail.)

I just want a program/software that will burn/copy any DVD game (and bypass the security/copyright protection... and do a 1:1 copy.

I am using Daemon Tools to emulate the disc.

(p.s. I have images of: Battlefield 2, Black and white 2, Half Life 2: episode 1 on my HD... and i am running Daemon Tools to Emulate them... works fine! (thats because they are all under 4GB per disc). I used CloneCd for the image making (nice... but not for anything over 4GB)..........

it feels like am so close to everything being solved........

How do I format my hard drive to NTFS?

(i only have WINXP recovery DVD disc... because windows came pre-installed. i think it is what people call an OEM)

when i put the recovery disc in (thinking that i can format my drive to NTFS this way... at least i am willing to try) nothing happens.

i just want to format my drive to NTFS... HOW?
(p.s. does converting atually help me... meaning if i do a conversion... will files that i put onto the system (after conversion) be converted automatically to NTFS?)

am i wasting my time with these chat rooms. where is there any help?

i am thinking about wasting money on technicians or somebody that can do this...................... bla
