What are the benefits of running Linux on the PS3?
My main reason for thinking of installing it, is so I
can stream any type of media file from my windows pc.
Mainly mp3s and AVI files.
IS this possible in linux on pS3?
of should i just use Nero 7 and forget about linux?

Yeah you need a keyboard and a mouse. And I don't know about the streaming, I've never done that but you probably can. Another benefit of Linux is that you can dump Blu-ray discs to your HDD, though we can't really do anything with them right now.

Well... my opinion... I dont find any benifits of linux, unless you dont own a PC already.... I use the PS3 to stream through the XMB, use the PS3 web browser...and SAK for dumping Blue rays.. I havent logged into Linux OS in a long azz time....

also, in theory, is it true that you can run os x? you should as old macs run on powerpc cores. (ie mac os tiger and older). so there is a benefit as it is probably so that your computer (if running windows) is definately not a power pc computer, so you can try out power pc os's. it just porbably isn't a benefit if you have a power pc.
