I don't have much experience with a mac, so I don't really know how to format with it. Can you get access to a pc? From friend? work? With pc, all you gotta do is right click and format.
#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

create all the folders manually. ISO, GAME, PSP, ect. Then go to psp and see if you can access them

ok. I tried creating my own folders (ISO, PSP/GAME) and added some isos and nothing is showing up on the psp. I formatted the card through the psp and now I'm back to where I started with locked folders...

well after looking at another website comparing (visually) the real and fake sony memory cards, it's missing some of the various imprints/indentions indicative of the legitimate sony cards. I'll reformat it on a pc again and we'll go from there... sorry.

ALTHOUGH, it matches exactly (visually) with the enlarged pic of the 4gb sony memory stick duo on the best buy website... so... I'll format it again and then.... then what?

The fake cards visually can look IDENTICAL to the authentic sony cards. Even sony themselves have trouble identifying them. Since you bought on ebay, and if you did not pay at a premium amount ($100 or above for 4gig) chances are you got a fake card. Fake card doesn't mean it won't work. In fact, I can bet most people willingly use fake cards because they are much cheaper and work exactly the same as real ones.
As for the faulty ones, a myriads of problems exist. Such as, not be able to store to full capacity, not able to format, inconsistant speed, cannot access files, ect. Usually, if it doesn't format with psp, I'd format with pc, if it still won't work, I'd contact the seller for refund.

Hey guys.. I am very fluent with macs and pcs and I know exactly what this person is talking about..
I have a 2gb sony card and when the PSP is connected to the mac, the memstick.ind and memstickpro.ind are both locked. When you right click and then select "get info" there is a box you can uncheck. That box is "LOCK". However once you uncheck that box, the second you click in the browser window, the lock reapears.
BUT! When accessing the psp the same way on a PC, you are able to delete these files without a problem (they get recreated by the psp however)
The problem I have is that when i delete an ISO using the mac, it does not reflect that I have done so in size.
EXAMPLE: I have GTA in the ISO folder, I plug psp to mac, delete GTA in ISO folder to make room for a new ISO. Upon deleting I DO NOT see the available memory increase, but rather stay the same, as if I didnt delete anything.
Now using a PC this is an easy fix as you simply delete what i think is the memory cards Cache, but on a mac.. well i just dont know how to do it without formatting the card within the psp and copying all the directories back on to the card, along with whatever new ISO I want to play.
Once I get sick of the new game, I have to do all the same shit all over again!! Rinse, Lather, Repeat..
It sucks big time, but untill someone can help out us Mac users, theres really no other option.

Wow, I can't believe it's such a promblem with Mac. I'm thinking maybe there's a driver for psp that must be installed first. Like with windows 98. Make sure your Mac is updated with the latest patch or whatever.

Erm...that wont make a difference. What you probably did was crush the iso to cso. If u leave it as a ISO the lagg problems should be sorted. Also dont run it in a loader i have experienced bad lag with some games using it.
Fat PSP: 3.03 oe-c (will update when i have time :P)

dude your first and only real problem is that you are using a MAC.
with that being said, for the guy who is having the size issue and having to reformat the card everytime you want to swap out a game try to delete it and then emptying the trash can. in windows it will hold the file in the directory until you empty your trash can.
for the original poster with the "fake" card, go to buy.com and get your self a new 4 gig sandisc for 55 bucks US. and pick up a pc while your there MAC's suck.
