So you can get blue, red, green and every other colour that exists, cept black. Anyone know if you can get a black background, with the moving swirls ???????????

There are many custom background+wave/xmb available. They require you to have custom firmware, and you need to mess around with flash0

first things first i was at the exact stage as you and i did this with help from this site. search for a downgrader for your psp firmware.
