New firmware will prevent Xbox 360 modders from being banned

article published on 31 May, 2007

A few weeks back, Microsoft began banning modded Xbox 360s from Xbox Live and many users learned this the hard way. However, the modding community has quickly come back and released a new firmware that according to Xbox-Scene, will allow you to play your modded systems on XBL. The new firmware will work on any console that has the TS-H943 DVD drive and will prevent any Xbox Live detection ... [ read the full article ]

Hahaha. I knew with all the complaining and whining there would be a new release to fix those crys. This is pretty cool. One day I may mod my 360 but until their is a true break in this that will keep me playing online when i want I wont do it. But for those that already have enjoy and have fun lmao.

i might buy a 360 used for playing "backups". i'd like to give a few games a go. i'm wondering, does this firmware allow banned 360's to access or no?

theres talk about being able to call up MS complain that you were banned while using a 'unmodded' system, and they will rescan it and unblock you. but this is highly unlikely

I already talked to Microsoft for hours complaining that I was wrongfully banned. ONly option they gave me was to send it in, which is what I'm gonna do.

This WILL NOT allow banned users to access XBL. In theory, a person could flash their drive with the firmware, then request to be scanned and claim they were banned unfairly....but I doubt that will fly. Bottom line, if you were banned, you will need to buy a new 360, flash it with this firmware, then get your game on......till M$ catches on and begins banning again :)

Actually, I think he just made a new firmware that blocks unstealthed games, because nOObs are just not smart enough to check this on their own and will complain. We'll see if I'm right in a few months, and I'm still on Live with 5.3

LOL!!! It did not take them long to defeat the new protection. It's amazing they should realize that the modders will always figure out a counter move its like playing a game of chess.

That is not 100% true.....people who were banned will have to purchase a new 360 to use this firmware. Although it is a step in the right direction, it doesnt do the impossible and un-ban thousands of modded 360 users.

I Have An 2 Ideas, Remove the firmware off your xbox, delibrately smash
something inside return to microsoft and the will send you a new one free of charge.
You Can Also Remove firmware from your xbox, phone up Microsoft,
and lie to them and say you were banned for no reason, they scan it and see no modification and unban You because you removed the mod.Put the mod back inside and play Live once more!

Nope they wont work.

First idea wont because:

To change the firmware, to brake anything inside involves invalidating the warranty so microsoft wouldnt do it "free of charge." Also they work by fixing 360s and sending you out a "fixed" xbox 360 for this reason they would ahev to check.

Second idea wont because:

Soo many people have said this works that microsoft has wised up to it and stopped doing that service.

If your banned your banned face it.

That model drive has been the best thing to come from Microsoft in years! Look at all the fun stuff that we have been able to accomplish because of their HD DVD add on.

Its all about who knows what there doing... Maybe I shouldnt be saying this, but Microsoft hasnt nipped it in the budd completely. Real gamers know what im saying..

I chose this particular link because I was looking for someone of truth, to post there comments. Going back to past conversations can be helpful
