1.5 or 3.4 custom firmware

I've been away from the PSP scene for about a year now, and I'm still running 1.5 firmware. I've been reading alot of good things about Dark Alex's custom firmware and was thinking of upgrading. Before I do so, what are the advantages and disadvantages of upgrading? Will there be any apps that I can't run on 3.4 that ran on 1.5?

not, you can run all the apps that work on 1.5 and will still work on 3.40 OE-A but you can run ps1 games on 3.40 OE-A aswell!

Fully customizable xmb, background, waves, sounds. Without the hassle of devhook. Recovery to 1.5 in case of semi-brick. Also all of the added perks sony had thrown in, like web browser, ps1 support, full-res video, easier file system.

Also you can play ISO's easier. Just drop em' in the ISO folder in the root of your memory stick.

i was gonna ask exact same question as the origial poster.
if there is no downside to custom firmware, why would some people with multiple psp has one of them 1.5 and other one custom firmware, i dont understand that part.
i personally have 2 so i can beat my wife's ass on bomberman multiplayer mode. LOL

Because some ISO games wont work, like Tony Hawks Project 8, Need For Speed Most wanted/Carbon,And Vice City Stories.

Yes, I disabled those but what happens is when I start up Tony Hawk it loads to about 25 percent and it freezes, somtimes it freezes with the mem stick light on. Then after about 15 seconds it turns off. And With Most wanted it asks if I want to enable the autosave and either way yes or no it just freezes and doesnt turn off. Pretty much same thing with Carbon too. any advise? I just downgraded from 3.40 oea back to 1.5 and I am back up to 3.40 oea again but from a different website. So I dont know if they will work now.

Might be a memory card problem. Do you have another one you can try?

Cant be my memory stick all my other games work, The Godfather, Dragon Ball Z, Call Of Duty, Practical Intellagence, Socom Fireteam Bravo, all work but those games dont. Now i just put Tony Hawk on again and it seys "The game cannot be started. (80010002)
My memory stick is 2.0 GB SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo, Magic Gate, blah blah blah.

ka may ha may ha!! i try disable those and when i exit the recovery menu it seys "internal error" and it makes me restore system setings. Is there somthing that i can do to fix it.
