Need your stable advice on downgrading ( 3.03 1.5 3.40 OE-A Successful!)

Hey guys,
I have a PAL 3.03 PSP. I have GTA Liberty City Stories with the 2.0 firmware upgrade. I'm ready to use the downgrader to 1.5, downloaded from here:
http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/8525.cfm
Please confirm this will work and give me any last minute advice.
Once I'm down to 1.5, I wish to upgrade to a custom firmware to play games from memory stick and PS1 games on PSP.
Please remember I am from a PAL region if this makes any difference.

Also, after converting up to the CUSTOM FIRMWARE, will I be able to play my UMD games still?
And if i have problems can I go back to another firmware?

thanks. one more thing. i was about to begin, but i noticed that the 1.5 eboot was NORTH AMERICA. Is there a european release or do all versions work fine?

Forums are very quiet tonight. I am still unable to find a european release of 1.5 eboot? Will the north america one work fine for me?

No, believe me I'm really afraid of bricking the PSP. However, I don't recall ever seeing a PAL 1.5 Eboot. Do such things exist? Is the North America one going to work!? Hopefully other members can confirm something, and then I can proceed!

Ok im failing already.
It says copy the contents of the MS_ROOT folder from the downloaded pack onto the memory stick. But inside the MS_ROOT folder from the pack is a folder called psp, which is the same as the folder called PSP on the memory stick currently, and I can't have 2 of them on at the same time!?

copy the one from the HEN package and the 2 will merge into one. the same goes for the downgrader package. do it, ive done it loads of times. as for the 1.50 eboot, as far as i know, it should

1. Update to 3.03 if already on 3.03 go on to the next step
2. Open the 3.03 downgrade file (303dg.zip) and copy the psp folder to the root of your memory stick. Example Image
Note: Don't copy the PSP folder into the MP_ROOT folder
For Example:
3. Open the 1.5 update zip and rename the EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP then copy it to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
Make sure not to overwrite PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
For Example: 
4. Load GTA LCS
5. It should get to loading save game, clear the screen, the screen should fill with a light blue color and then reset the PSP
(If this does not happen see below)
6. Check that HEN is running by going to system settings then System Information and it should show up as system version 303 HEN
7. If it is showing up as 3.03 HEN then go to the Game menu and run the x.yz update
8. Before the downgrader does anything to your PSP it will ask for you to agree to what it is doing
If you no longer want to continue press the Right Shoulder Button (R-TRIGGER).
9. Once you have agreed to start the downgrade do not unplug the PSP
10. Once finished the PSP will ask you to press X, after pressing it will reset it self. (If it don't reset press O instead)
11. If a blue screen (BSOD) comes up saying that the settings are corrupt press X or O to continue.
12. Enjoy the new 1.5 PSP

Ooohh I went ahead and downgraded to 1.5. Thank goodness, it worked and I fully appreciate the help guys. I would now like to upgrade to the best current custom firmware, which will allow me to play downloaded ISO's and PS1 games. Please help me out!

On the guide it says:
*Back up your psp files by coping them to your computer somewhere
What files does it mean. All files on the mem stick?

Right so ill just copy the MP_ROOT, GAME, MUSIC etc. folders and the netconfig.bak file onto my documents or something then.

Aw no haha i went to copy the 2 folders onto the psp and its telling me ive not got enough space!! I checked, ive not got any videos or music or pics on it, so the system software is taking up all my space!? What to do?
