He never mentioned piracy. You CAN talk about downloading games here. You just can't provide direct links to game downloads or get into specifics about scene releases. To the original topic I've used newsgroups for years with no complaints. I use Giganews. They are the best, but also the most expensive at $25 a month. There are cheaper ones too.

well fgamer, maybe not posting way off topic would be a start to you being a better afterdawner yourself.
and on subject, unless your just in a really big hurry, you should wait for a nice private torrent tracker to open and register there. only thing about that is you have to upload it back, but its still free.

right, and if you read my post above, you would see that i appologised for trying to be a moderator, or do you just want to pick a fight?
any way. i thought it was a wrong thread. the person is clearly askign for piracy, unless in the uk, becasue you are allowed to download, aslong as not for financial gain, but not upload.

off topic and just my opinion.
fgamer, If it was not for the long time time members, and the members who actually care reminding the newbies of the rules here it would never get done. Because no one ever reads them. And although it is really not their job to do it, if they didn't then this site would be over run with crap and ignorant members like so many other forums on the web. He may have been able to do it in a less sarcastic manner though.

OK this makes no sense to me and a mod needs to address it, because these two things are the same.
1. Case: Pirated material, such as serial numbers and direct links to pirated, copyrighted material (including direct links to torrent files and ed2k links). PROHIBITED
2. Case: Links to sites offering possibly pirated content (including torrent files and ed2k links). PERMITTED
one states that linking to a site that may carry pirated materials including torrents is prohibited, which i know to be true of about any forum. But the other which also says linking to sites is permitted?

Exactly... that's what I'm getting at. Quite often member's will jump into a thread and scream "try reading the rules" when obviously they haven't read the rules themselves.

No no... case 1 means a link which will automatically open the "download" or "save as" type boxes.
In a nut shell, I can post the link to Pirate Bay, but I can not post a link which takes me to a specific torrent on Pirate Bay.
