To use emulator u need to be on a PSP version 1.50 or Custom firmware
that will bring u to 1.50 and u might want custom firmware so it would not software brick. Link to custom firmware is in my sig.. put emulators in folder PSP/GAME

You have 2.5 so u dont need the GTA disk just download that file i just posted and u can downgrade to 1.50. firmware=fw... fw 1.50 is official Sony firmware. Most of the homebrew and hacks have been made using 1.50 exploit. Custom firmware is a higher firmware with the future of the 1.50 exploit so u can play homebrew on say verison 3.40 it also have the option to load iso...PSP games alpot eaiser. It is also recommended because it have a recovery feaure so u are less likely to fully Brick your psp. Brick makes your PSP not funtion correctly. i or someone in these fourms will help u about homebrew and the ability to load iso (psp games) with out a UMD...and psx games and all that junk. but first one step at a time and first downgrade to firmware 1.50

You should fix your sig so it says not a downgrader for 3.10-3.40 and change 3.04 to 3.40

Read above...i just edited...Btw are u sure your lens is dead. I have fixed PSP all the time and most of the time you could just move the laser head back and forth with a pencil/pen or something slowly and it will start working. but sometimes u wll have to take it apart and turn the motor manually. But if u did play your psp for a long time maybe the lens is dead

Try formating your memory stick and try redownloading the file...O wait have u eUnzip the file yet? it is in .rar format and u will need WinRAR or something that can unzip rar files. WinRAR is not free. it is a trial but if u use it after the tril a windows popup nagging to buy it but it still works
Winrar

After u unzip the file u should have EBOOT.PBP file. Put that file in PSP/GAME/UPDATE create the missing folders along the process...prob just the UPDATE folder

I do not remember how to downgrade a 2.71 PSP with that downgrader. And i am on windows vista right now because XP doesnt decte my harddrives. And i cant open the downgrader in vista. but i think that downgrader will guide throguht the process or downgrading. Remember to keep your PSP charging and keep the PSP power adapter pluged in.
