I have a DVD made up of the above files. How can I retrieve its contents from Movie Maker for editing and placing in a Movie Maker compilation?

I don't think Movie Maker can import these files directly.
VOB2MPG can convert the folder to an .mpg file which I think is acceptable.
Locate the VIDEO_TS folder and convert.

Look for the free file,VOB2MPG v2.3

Good luck.

Thanks Attar - you are right WMM will not access these files. I have downloaded VOB2MPG as you suggest and hope that will solve my problem.
Will keep you posted - thanks again!

Attar- I cannot 'use' the programme! Click on open and two options, 'install' or 'repair' is as far as I can get! I assumed it would be a 'drag and drop' type operation but cannot get past the above stage! Any clues and thanks!

Try this:
In the folder the files you need are named thus.
VTS_01_1.VOB,
VTS_01_2.VOB etc in sequence depending on the length of the video.

Rename them:
VTS_01_1.VOB.MPEG
VTS_01_2.VOB.MPEG

Download this program and load the files.
A new, joined, MPEG will be created.

Attar -thanks again but sorry, that didn't work either! The programme would not recognise the renamed files. I have redownloaded the vob2mpg file but get the same result as before!

Any other freeware programmes that will convert these VOB files to mpg? I have tried a trial version of 'ConvertXtoDVD' but that doesn't make the files usable for editing either! I'm stuck!!

When you created the files with VOB2MPG, could you click on them and play them ok?

Do you mean the Bobbyte joining program would not recognize or accept the new .mpg files?

If they played ok, then the Bobbyte program should have joined them without complaint.

Attar - the programme would not recognise the renamed files therefore I couldn't progress it! As a matter of interest I downloaded a (trial) programme i.Softer vobtompeg www.allformp3.com/dvd-copy-software/vob-to-AVI.htm which worked but a very poor result - I wouldn't persevere with this!
