Thats just because your PS3 isnt setup to use the internet yet, it shouldnt effect your server.
If you want the internet to work via your PC then go to start menu<run type cmd then press enter, then type nslookup(when your internet connection is active). That should give you the correct DNS server number to enter into your PS3, also enter it into the place where you set the IP address for the PC as well. Now you just need to select both your PS3 network connection and your internet connection, right click and select "bridge connections". If you have dialup then go into the connection settings, in the advanced tab there should be a tick box for share internet on network.

@johnc1234
I dunno why its all of a sudden stopped, are you able to try using Windows Media Player 11? to see if its a connection related problem or if its TVersity.

@Andrew691 I followed your instructions and this is what I got. "Can't find server name for address 192.168.254.254: non-existent domain. Default servers are not available. Default sever unknown." Tomorrow I am going to take my laptop upstairs and connect it directly to the modem and see if I get a different result. I get back to you then. Thanks.

no worrys andrew, got it figured out. Just incase anyone else has the same problem here is how I over come it.

I was recently opening my ports on my wireless router, hence I was trying to create a static IP. So anyway it was due to me trying to create a static IP which lead me to go to network connections, right click local area connection, scrolled down to internet protocol and double clicked it, in this box I checked obtain IP address automatically (silly I know), and kept it like that for a while. so today I went back to there and checked use the following IP address and entered my IP subnet mask and Default gateway and its detected it straight away. And just to confirm i was correct I checked Obtain IP automatically, BANG! Tversity server disappeared. Checked Use following Ip and entered my settings, BANG! server reappears.

Anyway im glad I got it figured because I've learned a little bit more about networking and streaming servers, which I am not so strong at in this area.

Oh PS, that m4v.ax file you sent me did not work after all :( lol

No such luck. I don't understand how TVersity worked for about 30 min and then just decides to quit. I will admit that I am new to the server world but I feel like I have gone over every possibility. I guess I will go back to using WMP11. The problem with it is my computer is runs slower that s#!t when I have it installed. Slower than S#!T.

Woo-Hoo I got it to work, now maybe someone can help me understand why. In order for my PS3 to recognize Tversity via an Ethernet (wired connection) I have to go into the properties of my wireless connection (my Internet) and disable it. As soon as I disable my wireless connection Tversity shows up on my PS3, any thoughts on why this is? Also, @Andrew691, would this be the proper place to further discuss sending an Internet connection on the PS3 or should I start a new thread for that. Need to obey the rules.

Must be some kind of network conflict, TVersity must be sharing with your Wireless connection instead of your Wired one. Did you try bridging both connections? that might make both able to go and also give your PS3 internet.

@johnc1234
Yeah I wasnt too sure if that file would fix your problem, I recommend you go to www.free-codecs.com and try find a working file.

Whenever I bridge the connections it says that I have an IP address conflict and I loose both the server and the Internet. I am actually more interested in connecting the PS3 to the Internet than I am the Tversity. I have an external HD on my PS3 which as all of my mp3s and stuff anyway, but I would love to get the web. Currently, I have to carry my PS3 upstairs and connect it to my router with an Ethernet cable anytime I want to go to the PS store.

Sweet as I didnt realize your PC was connected to a wireless router, now I have a better idea of what your setup is. Do you know what your routers IP address is? if its 192.168.0.1 your gunna need to change your PC IP address, and maybe the address set as Default Router on PS3.

Cool, I was able to share my connection to my PS3. I am currently downloading firmware 1.81. I notice that I am dropping the connection allot, is this to be expected. I have had to restart the download several times now and I have not made it passed 3% complete yet. Any thoughts. PS: @Andrew691 thanks for your help these past few days.

It would be due to the distance the data would have to travel, its got a long way to go. Just download the update from the playstation website, or connect it directly to your router to get updates.

Also what firmware are you currently on? I believe one of the newer ones improves network stability for people with problems.

I am having the same problem as was first mentioned in this thread. I have tried version 0.9.9.2, with the patch, 0.9.9.3 and 0.9.9.7, and my PS3 won't detect any media servers. I have allowed TVersity through my firewall and even tried turning my firewall off, still with the same result. Could this be because I have firmware 1.90? If so, can anyone give me any info on compatability with my current firmware? Thanks.

This is the fix I came up with when I couldnt get my media servers to work change the primary dns on both your pc and ps3 to the same number as the IP address of the router leave secondary dns all zeros. This should work for you. One router made everything configure itself like that and the other I had to manually enter the dns but it works now. Make sure you open the right port in windows firewall since adding the .exe doesnt always work buy itself. Hope this works for you.
