Ribbon cable clamp broke, still hope?

My ps2 modchip is on the way so I disassembled my ps2...and my fat fingers broke a clamp at the very end >_>.

Well, here's bad pcitures but I can elaborate on them.

This is the area:


(It's the ribbon cable connected Mobo to DVD drive laser)

This is the clamp...kinda useless I guess:



Hard to see but it STAYS in ifnothing is bumping it or anything..:



And finally..teh broken clamp resting on top..:



Now..the question is could I electrically tape it, or do ANYTHIGN to fix this? Thanks for any help

i cant really see from ur pics. but u should be able to tape it. just tape it so it cant move up and down

I would love to help but I am need of the same thing.
I was just looking where to post when I read your post.
I am repairing a V7 and need the retaining clamp same as you, and also the retaining clamp for the laser.
I have hunted hi and lo looking for these parts. You would think you could purchase them somewhere for those who do refurbishing and such.

I have emailed RichsPSXparts but not heard back yet.

Well I solved my problem... I am just getting parts from a broken PS2.
Seems the only way I can find them. I have googled and googled looking for retaining clamps and come up with nothing. These items are obviously made somewhere, but I know I sure czn't find them.
