well you might want to upgrade to custom firmware first...1.50 firmware does not have the ability to just play games from the memory stick...Its a bit complicated, you would have to get a program called Devhook, and you dont want to bother with all that..Just use the 3.40OE-A easy winstaller found here.. You can at least get your feet wet with this, and its just like using the official firmware....enjoy!

did you get your psp upgraded to 3.40OE-a?? No need for UMD emulator, you just put your iso games into the ISO folder in the root of your memory stick...and play them from the game menu on your psp...If you successfully upgraded, you should format your memory stick so it creates the proper folder structure for you...Then just copy the games over..

Technically yes, you are "supposed" to own the actual UMD game in order to download it as a "backup"...

o so in order to play the games in your memory stick, you need to have the actual UMD game inside the psp?
So there is actually no point of downloading games right? because its just a backup.

well not necessarily-you dont need the same game inserted in the drive..you are just "supposed" to own the UMD for which the game you are downloading...

That could be a couple of things- You could have a bad rip of a game that is doing that..Also, make sure you have a UMD game inserted in the drive..And your settings in the recovery console are correct..
Access the recovery console by turning off your psp completely (hold power switch up for about 5 seconds)
Then while turning your psp back on,hold down the R trigger button at the same time...Your psp will boot into "recovery mode"
scroll to "configuration" and select that-
scroll to "use NO-UMD" and make sure that its set to "currently disabled"-
select "back"
scroll down to "advanced" and select that
scroll to "advanced configuration"-select that
make sure all three options are set to "currently disabled"
when you are done, select "back" twice to bring you to the main menu
scroll to exit, and your psp will restart saving the settings.

Wow, old thread...And it looks like I was still subscribed to it!
You will need to get a hold of the RECOVERY folder (google:1.50 recovery winstaller) and get it on your memory stick. Once you get it, then go into recovery mode and run that program "run program at: PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP/
What that will do is get you back to 1.50...from there you can start the process of updating to 3.71M33...Unfortunately,you can just update from 3.40OE-A to 3.71M33-2...Its done like so: 3.40OE-A>1.50>3.52M33>3.52M33-4>3.71M33>3.71M33-3(latest version)-(dont forget the 1.50 kernel patch, you will need it to run homebrew on the 3.71 fw)-There are a couple of guides stickied on the first page of the forum...
Good luck!

would you say that 3.40 oe-a is better or upgrading it to a M33 version?

Well as newer games come out, you are going to have trouble playing them because they will require a higher firmware...
Just make sure when you update to 3.52M33 that you run that kxploit patch before anything else...Were you able to find the recovery folder alright? Your psp is at 1.50 currently?

Oh, you did get 3.52M33 installed then? Ok, well that is a good sign...Did you also apply the M33-4 patch? Or are you just on 3.52M33? (In your system settings menu it will either say 3.52M33, or 3.52M33-4 for the system software) Once you get the M33-4 patch applied, what I would do is go into the settings menu, and 'restore default settings' as well as a 'format memory stick' (be sure to backup your data first) That may help your game issue-otherwise try copying it to your memory sick again.
I would stick with 3.52M33-4 until you run into a game that requires a higher firmware..I actually still use it on my own psp-when I get a new game that insists on me updating, then I will...But it works fine for me..
