I've just gotten a PS2. I don't know techie-talk. (I should probably learn it but anyway) I want to backup some games I have, then I'll have the originals but I won't be using them. Forget about backup-ing itself, I can deal with that, but what modchip/etc. do I use to allow them to play? (I've scanned the posts here, by the way, and the rules, so I don't think this is already answer or not allowed. If it is, someone please tell me, I don't think this is piracy or whatever.)
Here are some I've found. Does anyone get this? And do any of these need other products to work? Oh, and can any of these work w/o opening the PS2 up -and what's soldering???

Try teammodders.com if you're located in the US and seeking a professional installation for your mod-chip. I've heard nothing but good things about them except remarks about how long they took which was about a few days at most to respond. Anyway, the alternative you're looking for without opening your PS2 and soldering, which is mainly used for mod-chips, would be Swap Magic. With Swap Magic, all you need to do is like how you boot cheats on games like Gameshark except you need to do a little something extra to play them. Since you have a fat PS2, you need a slide card to pull and push the disk tray gently so you can swap for your game when the Swap Magic menu asks you to without the PS2 knowing.
