When I downgraded from 2.71 to 1.50 I had to format my memory stick. Now it says to format it again before I install 3.40 OE-A.
In my head this is what I understand! Once again please correct me if I'm wrong:
I HAVE to reformat the memory stick again in order to install the 3.40 OE-A firmware, so that it will override the 1.50 firmware which I downgraded to yesterday and this is what I need for future use of the psp. Therefore I shouldn?t be afraid to format which will erase everything.

I'm new to this but when I was stuck on step 4 it was because I didn't get step 3 to work the first time around. Did you make sure step 3 worked?
For future references in my own .doc I wrote the following ( I wrote it in red so you can see it better) and hopefully it will work for you:
3)Now either terminate the USB connection or remove the memory card and insert it back into your PSP. Start your PSP and run HEND by going to the photo menu and entering the HEND folder. ( The first time we did this the screen turned red then black, we waited for a bit and nothing happened, did some search and it said keep redoing this step because for some people it takes more then one try, we redid it a second time and it worked, the screen turned blue/green therefore success)

Okay I'll do my best to help the way you worded your sentences kinda confused me. But here goes...
Okay yes, it is not required but highly recommended to reformat your memorystick before attempting the 3.40 OE-A upgrade. So turn on your PSP and format your memory-stick. Formatting does erase everything, like game saves, the music you saved on it, etc. But since you formatted your memory stick when you downgraded to firmware 1.5 there shouldn't be anything on there that will get erased. And the MP_ROOT and PSP folders will automatically be recreated by the PSP if formatted by the PSP.
@mrmcman
Can you clarify your post?

Good morning,
Thank you for your reply, it's exactly what I wanted to know.
I wanted to know that if by reformating my memory stick again, will it write version 3.40 OE-A in my systems information instead of version 1.50.
I will try this tonight thanks once again.

formating you memory stick woulnt change or do anything to your psp. it will only delete everything off your memory stick and place all folders in there correct locations.

Hello PeaInAPod,
Can you please write the walkthrough for the 1.50 recovery, so that I could do it tonight right after I install 3.40 OE-A.
Thanks in advance.

ok, i have a TA-082+ mobo. wen i used the 3.03 downgrader, it patched the mobo so it could be "safely downgraded". i am wonderin if this type of mobo would need the TA-079 downgrader, rather than the TA-082 downgrader. im just tryin to get familiar with all the downgraders that i can to help ppl out with this sorta thing.

Well I am not sure. But a bit of info I do not and never have had a PSP, and look at all I know :) Just google some stuff up and read around the answers are out there. In my opinion if you have questions about downgraders I would go to this guide and read up. It has specific instructions for all the downgraders, tells you the files needed, etc. It's a really good resource.

@mrmcman,
Glad you got it to work :) Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but like I said I have never had a PSP and have learned all I have through reading and going through the forums. So I figured instead of trying to explain the downgrade process for 3.03 I would give you a link to one of the best sites I have found for downgrading info :)

I just upgraded to 3.40-oe-a.
Now for the recovery mode:
Do I just install it and it will place the files automatically on it's own.
Wouldn't running it bring it back to 1.50? f not, how do I run it if I ever need it, where to I go find it on the psp?

Instead of answering everyone of your questions I will just explain what firmware 1.5 Recovery mode is. Okay so you have run the easy installer right? So your asking what did this just do? Well let me tell you...
What the firmware 1.5 Recovery installer(1.5 Recov.) did is place certain files in certain spots on your memory-stick. With these files you can,usually, downgrade if you should brick your Custom firmare PSP. So for example you have 1.5 Recov. installed and your running firmware 3.40 OE-A. You try some homebrew and it bricks your PSP! Your thinking damn my PSP's a brick, but since you have 1.5 Recov. installed you can usually save your PSP by holding "R" when booting your PSP. This will take you to a special menu which has the option to restore your PSP to firmware 1.5. Handy huh?
Okay now bear with me as like I said I don't have a PSP so I these directions may not be perfect. But to access recovery mode hold the "R" button for 5 seconds or so when you turn on your PSP. You should get a menu, and on the menu there should be a option to "Recover", "Recover to firmware 1.5", etc. Select that and follow the prompts and you should be unbricked in no time.

I installed the 1.5 recovery and I also held down the "R" button and it made my firmware 1.5 again.
Correct me if I'm wrong but what I should do is:
Install 1.5 recovery but DO NOT press the "R" and this way it won't downgrade it to 1.50 and it will remain to 3.40 oe-a,,am I right?

no, the 1.50 recovery will only work if u press RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY u can still go into recovery mode but not recover. recovery mode is like a place where u can tweak psp settings that u cant change in regular mode.
Quote: Quick random question, what does the term "brick" mean?
the term brick means ur psp will power on, but nothing is displayed on the screen, and nothing happens, except the power turning pff after 20 seconds or so. the psp is useless.

Thanks mrmcman,
My next question is:
Where do I find "PSP/GAME/RECOVERY", do I have to shut off the psp and then when I restart it I need to press the "R" button right away to get into recovery?
Is there another way of accessing recovery mode?
