did u place EVERY file, even the word documents to the root?
to check HEND, go and check ur firmware version. it should say 2.71 HEN-D
also, something that may make it work: go to the HEND folder, but press triangle instead of x. then select "Slideshow" that might work.
@PeaInAPod
not a problem, just helpin where i can :)
(+[__]%) put this psp in ur siggy. just do it.

Okay lets stop for a second, and start from the begining.
@nibsy7
1) What firmware is your PSP?
2) What motherboard version is your PSP?
3) Do you have a unpatched copy of GTA:LCS?
4) When we say "Root" of the memory stick do you know were we are referring to?

Firmware is 2.71, i already updated to that from 2.6
i do not have the numbers in the top right inside the insert for the umd disk therefore should be earlier than TA-82 motherboard, is this right?
I didn't think i needed GTA
The root should be so that i can open up my removable disk and these items should appear.
Am i right?
Cheers for the help guys

Second time I'm posting this:
"I'm new to this but when I was stuck on step 4 it was because I didn't get step 3 to work the first time around. Did you make sure step 3 worked?
For future references in my own .doc I wrote the following ( I wrote it in red so you can see it better) and hopefully it will work for you:
3)Now either terminate the USB connection or remove the memory card and insert it back into your PSP. Start your PSP and run HEND by going to the photo menu and entering the HEND folder. ( The first time we did this the screen turned red then black, we waited for a bit and nothing happened, did some search and it said keep redoing this step because for some people it takes more then one try, we redid it a second time and it worked, the screen turned blue/green therefore success)"

Good morning,
Small question:
If someone has a psp which originally was a 1.5 and then they upgraded to a 2.81 from the sony site in order to play a game.
Since, it's only a 2.81 firmware can they downgrade it and then upgrade it to 3.40 OE-A? or is it to late because they upgraded it from the sony site!

@whynotdee
They can still downgrade it, but to do so they will need a unpatched copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. If you or the person who wants to downgrade has access to a unpatched copy post back and I will reply with a downgrading walkthrough.

Okay first to give credit were credit it due this guide was taken and edited from this link.
Note to TA-82 or higher PSP's
If you have an unpatched TA-082 or higher motherboard, you will be prompted to allow the downgrader to patch your motherboard so it can be safely downgraded. The downgrader will not let you proceed without patching, if your motherboard requires it.
Files Needed for the Downgrade and Upgrade:
3.03 Update
3.03 Downgrading Files
1.5 Eboot
3.40 OE-A Easy Installer
1.5 Recovery Mode Easy Installer
Downgrading:
1) Update to 3.03, and as with all downgrading/upgrading make sure your battery is at least at 75%
2) Extract the downloaded 3.03 downgrade zip file (303dg.zip), copy the resulting folder to the root of your memory stick. This folder you copied should already be named PSP.
3) Open the 1.5 update zip and rename the EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP then copy it to /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/
**IMPORTANTMake sure not to overwrite PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
4) Insert your unpatched GTA:LCS UMD and load the game.
5) The PSP should get to a "loading save game" screen, then the screen should clear, and then the screen should fill with a light blue color and then reset the PSP.
6) Once the PSP has reset itself cveck that HEN is running by going to "System Settings" then "System Information" and the system version should show up as 3.03 HEN.
7) If it is showing as being at "3.03 HEN", then go to the Game menu and run the x.yz update.
8) Before the downgrader begins the downgrade process it will ask for you to agree to what it is doing. If you no longer want to run the downgrader then press the right trigger button "R". Otherwise agree and continue with the downgrade, makign sure your PSP is plugged in with at least 75% battery charge, and no chance of getting knocked off. Once you have agreed to downgrading be sure not to knock the PSP battery out or have its charger pulled out.
10) Once finished the PSP will ask you to press X, after pressing it will reset itself. (If it doesn't reset press O instead).
11) If a blue screen comes up saying that the settings are corrupt press X or O to continue. Then do so and press X or O.
12) Enjoy! You are now at firmware 1.5.
@whynotdee
I included the 3.40 OE-A Easy Installer and 1.5 Recovery Mode Installer, I know you know how to use these so I won't bother with including directions.

I am unsure how to change step 5 so it is correct. Could you post a revised step 5, that I could swap with mine?

First of all I want to say thanks for this great tutorial I already got a 1.50 running. I used the 3.40oe easy installer but im afraid to run it because underneath the 3.40oe-A firmware Install theres a icon that reads corrupted data. Is that normal? Im only being cautious cause Ive already bricked a psp. Thanks in advance

I would start a new thread and hope that some more experienced members answer your question, because I can't answer it. I don't have a PSP and therefore have never done this so I am not sure if it should read "Corrupted Data". I could give you my opinon though, and that is that it shouldn't say that. I would format your memory card from the PSP, rerun the 3.40 OE-A Easy Installer, and then see if it changed anything.
