I ran the 3.40oe installer and it worked it turns out that the corruption data is used by the installer from what I was told. Thanks alot PeaInAPod, just one more question after I installed the 3.40oe easy installer im already able to access a recovery mode by holding R. Should I still install the 1.5 recovery mode easy installer or is it the same?

In short, yes run the 1.5 Easy Installer.
The reason: After installing firmware 3.40 OE-A the recovery menu is present but some of its features will not function with out you the user putting key files in specific places. For example, with the recovery menu you have the ability to downgrade back to firmware 1.5 in the off chance that you should accidentally brick your PSP. Now this is incredibly handy and needless to say a must have feature for anyone planning to play homebrew or customize their PSP's background, icons, etc. But to be able to recover to firmware 1.5 you, like I said, must have key files in specific places. Hence the reason for the firmware 1.5 easy installer. It places all the files you will need to downgrade to 1.5 from the recovery menu should you brick your PSP.
Also before you install it I recommend formatting your memory card. And the 3.40 OE-A upgrade files are no longer needed on your PSP's memory stick.

Listen to PeaInAPod,
The recovery came in handy when a simple stupidity was done and it brought it back to 1.5 and then started all over again. It really is a lifesaver.

Good morning,
Small question:
If the 1.5 recovery has been installed on a PSP and was used to bring it backdown to 1.5 firmware and then the 3.40 OE-A was again reinstalled successfully. Does a person have to reinstall the 1.5 recovery again or does it always stay in the PSP form the first time that it was installed?

I have a question, i have a TA-082 2.71 psp and im trying to load hen-d. Every time i try to load it, the screen flashes red in the beginning, turns blue, then black and shuts off. And when i try to run hen-d again, it just turns blue and then shuts off. Hen is not running after these because i checked under system info. Please tell me what i am doing wrong and i am also trying to use this to work a 2.71 to 1.50 downgrade. Thankss.

maybe ur using the ta-079 downgrader, aka the generic downgrader, by mistake, and HEN-D is not loading as a result. or, try to check HEN-D is running after the first time. also, make sure EVERY FILE, EVEN THE .txt AND .wpd FILES are copied to the ROOT of the memory stick, or it will not work.

This was done on two 2.71 with Ta-082 and both time it turned blue-red-black and shut off, retried and it worked. Sometimes people do it 20 to 30 times, keep trying see what happens.

Well to make sure you have a TA-82 motherboard check this pic out...

Post back telling us if you are still sure you have a TA-82. Regardless below I am posting a guide to downgrade a firmware 2.71 TA-82 PSP to firmware 1.5.

Okay I am going to give you a complete step-by-step downgrade guide w/ pictures. First format your memory card so that we start off with a clean slate. Okay before beginning make sure your battery is charged to at least 75% and that your charger is plugged in.
Files needed to downgrade a 2.71 PSP either TA-82 or TA-86...
TA-082 2.71 Downgrade Files
Firmware 1.50 Update
1) Unzip the 2.71 TA-82 downloaded files and copy all files to the root (topmost folder) of the memory stick.
**NOTE**-If you are unsure of what the "ROOT" of your memorystick is I included the picture below to illustrate.

2) Rename the file labeled"EBOOT.PBP" to "UPDATE.PBP" (do so without quotes). And copy the file into X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE\. Were X is your memory card.
3) Now exit to your PSP's home menu and run HEN-D by going to the photo menu and entering the HEN-D folder.
4) Go to the GAME menu and and run 1.50enabler
5) When the program exits back to the XMB run UPDATE X.YZ
6) When your PSP has finished downgrading press X to restart your PSP.
7) When you turn your PSP on there will be a blue screen, Press O.
8) You should now be at firmware 1.5! Congrats :)

Assuming you followed all the other directions to a "T", the "1.5enabler" option most likely isn't there because HEN-D failed to initialize. Keep trying I've heard of people getting HEN-D to run on there first try and others have had to start HEN-D 20+ times before it would start. So keep trying :)

So, so sorry
I forgot to include this little bit of info...
"The 1.5 enabler will tell you if you can run 1.5 or not. If it says you cannot press X to alter keys, don't continue till it says your settings will run 1.5"

We'll I've never done this so... Yes I believe you would repeat the process until it says you can continue. But you shouldn't have to do the whole thing over just the part were you enter the HEN-D folder.
