So VirtualDub gave you this error? Have you installed VFAPI Reader codec? And in which point this happens, exactly?

							Hi,
 how was this problem solved?
I have exactly yhe same error.
(Yes, I'm following the guide you refer to)
The "bad format (-2)" appears directly when
 the job is started.

And you didn't describe the exact program which causes you the problem. Do you mean that SmartRipper fails with you?

							Hi,
 In detail:
when following the DVD 2 DivX guide for 16:9
it is the last step that gives the error messge.
I.e. I prepare 2 jobs in VirtualDub as
specified in the guide. Then when I start
the jobs this message appear in the log.
Alternatively if I don't postpone the processing
as a job, but press start right away I get the
error message "bad format" in a regular windows message.
So it must (?) be either VirtualDub or DivX.

							Hi,
I seem to have figured it out.
It's the resized image that must be
 - even number of lines & rows
 - a multiple of 16:9
 I.e. resizing the 720x576 to 720x405
does not work. Resizing to (720-16=704) 704x396 is ok. As is 640x360 which is mentioned in the guide, but is a bit small...

It kinda worked the job was completed but i have one file that is only 100Mo and the other is 500Mo (i want to have one single cd cause it's a show not a movie), the first file can't be opened and for the second the image is distorted, weird color (lot of green, red and blue) and look like their is only one line out of two
Do you know how can i correct this?

							Hi,
Reading the DivX help gives the following:
 The first file .....firstpass.avi is
just a garbage file. Delet it when you're finished. The ...secondpass.avi is your
final result. If yoy haven't configured anything
different you will also have a C:\divx.log a quite big file that is the result from first pass, and is used in second pass.

By experimenting I got it to work by using
the resize filter as described, also the null transformation, but not using the cropping.
 OK with image size 704x396.
Good luck. Luckily it only takes ten hours to try each change in configuration :-)

Some versions of VirtualDub used to have problems with cropping -- try to upgrade to the latest Dub and see if you still have problems with cropping.
