I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.

I use DVD Shrink and ImageBurn to back up my DVDs, but the backup DVD sound is way too low i.e - my TV and surround sound is usually set at the 35 loudness and when I watch my backups, I have to turn it up to 55-60.

Am I missing something when I rip these?

unlike Video, audio tracks are not changed during ripping/encoding or whatever, they're transferred exactly ie are exactly the same as the original DVD..
