I am very much a newbie with my dvd burner, and hoping someone will be kind enough to answer my questions.
I have a large dvd collection, that i am backing up. With the burnt copies, some of them get jumpy in parts. Freezing for a second, then jumping maybe 30 seconds - a minute ahead. And on one of them, the whole movie plays brilliantly for the first hour and 13 mins, the locks up completly.
Is this normal, and to do with the compression when putting a dvd movie onto a disc, or is it because of the brand of dvd-r that i am using. They are called Printico, or Printco.I cant recall the exact name.
When i am ripping my dvd i am using dvd decrypter, and then dvd2one and burning the final product with nero. All with instructions obtained from this web site.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

its your media. Princos have a history of being poor. The outer edge of the dvd is wobbly when it spins so the end (last 10-20%) of the burns will have problems.
Use riteks.
I recently burnt some Memorex disks (2x) and had the same problem with three disks out of five. I'd have thought that memorex would be a good brand as they have been around for a while.
Some standalones are very picky about media brand, yes Memorex are a good brand, but still your player may just be picky.....
Try a brand with Ritek GO4 dye, these type have a better reflectivity so a standalone receives a more direct stream of data and doesn't miss any out....
Also, you may experience problems as yuedana
stated with burning the WHOLE disc as some players are funny about reading the outer circumference - due to speed differences....
In DVD2One I set my file size to 4440Mb and use the Ritek GO4 based dvd-r and have no problems with skipping....

they do the same thing in both my pc, and stand alone dvd player. They also do it in a friends dvd player, i thought i would try theirs to make sure it wasn't just my player. I bought some LG dvd-r's and they seems to burn fine. The discs that you mentioned, RiTek, do you know if you can buy them in Australia. I havn't seen them anywhere!!!
