not sure if you can upgrade straight to 3.40oe from 1.5.
just upgrade to 3.30oe-a first then upgrade to 3.40oe-a to be safe.
unless someone wants disagree n tell us you can just go straight to 3.40oe.

I went from 1.5 to 3.40 OE-A. It is my first psp, and I bought it with the intention of upgrading it and asked the original poster of the link below a bunch of questions before, during and after the upgrade. This is what he told me after one of my first questions:

>>>> As long as you keep the battery and mains cable in the psp at all times when flashing there's little risk of bricking it.

That's sounds about the same reasoning as you would use with a computer. If you had to flash the BIOS and decided to turn off your computer for some reason, you're going to royally screw it up.

I had never modded anything before, but I took the plunge, got confused with the wording a little, but had no problems once I knew what I was doing. This is the link I used.

Because I had never modded anything before, I was surprised it worked on the first try and then even more surprised that about 80% of the iso's I got had no problems whatsoever. Good luck and pm me or reply to your thread if you need help.

Why? Just go directly to 3.40oe. Less flashing = less hassle and less risk of bricking.

Here's a link to easy installer:

#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...
