Noob ? - I've had problems w/my WinXP - MCE getting regular TV to playback w/o stuttering or freezing. I've had no problems with DVD's from DVD or HD (utilizing VOB files), but my Cable TV freezes randomly & frequently.
Over the weekend, I decided to reinstall MCE from Recovery Disk - raw (new) SATA drive (50GB primary partition); Intel 3.6 GHz (not overclocked), 1GB Ram. SP2 (only, no updates yet) but all Drivers (updated with latest from sites). Hauppauge MCE WinTV PVR150 w/latest Driver (2-113-24030) and Intel 82915G/GV/910GL (6.14.10.4704 - 6/11/07) Driver. With only Adobe Reader 7 and AVG loaded all Devices indicate full operating status w/no trouble.
Then I tried MCE - primary load configuration w/o problems but as expected TV reported no Codec(s) loaded.
Creating a Restore Point (w/o Codecs), I've then utilized (separately - uninstalling & reverting to PreCodec Install Restore Point) NVIDIA PureVideo Premium (trial 102.223); Cole2k 6.0.9 Advanced; KLMCodec 210 all with similar results.
The NVIDIA codec at least plays briefly, though sound is not synced but ultimately "freezes" on multiple channels regular TV via Cable (Bresnan)and commercials (though less often). I have been able to "fix" briefly this problem by switching channels (+/-) and sometimes (in prior drive configuration) for no reason it locks in and will play for hours w/o problems. In the process of checking this out, I've even replaced the Hauppauge WinTV PVR150 with another unit, but still w/o success.
Sorry for the long Thread/Description, but does anyone have similar problems and have a solution? This has been most frustrating and seems to baffle Hauppauge or anyone else I've asked.
