Hi everyone

Sorry to be a complete noob but i'm trying to find out which is the best method of modding my ps2
I have one of the slimline versions with the flip up lid.
I think its a version 12 SCPH-70003 (UK version)
I've had it a while but never got round to modding it.
I'd be able to swap games with my friends if i went dowm the mod route but i don't know where to start.

Thanks people.......

The cheapest method in booting your backups and imports is using Swap Magic. A mod-chip has less hassles than using a Swap Magic disc and although the investment in a mod-chip may be expensive, it's well worth the money if you find swapping disc before you can play a game tedious and rebuilding certain games a nuisance.

Edit: It really depends. What are you for? A mod-chip has convenience while Swap Magic is cheap. Also, if you do play backed-up games, make sure you use quality discs like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell and Ritek.

Crystal Chip V2.0
Matrix Infinity Green Dot
DMS4 Pro
or if you just want to play back up games with no higher end functions then a Duo3 Gold will do tha trick.

make 100% sure that when it is installed that they install a laser fix as well, you need that with any V12 system.
Teammodders.com is a great site in the USA where you can send in your PS2 and have them do all of this.

Steimy: Do you really think the laser fix is necessary? I have a silver slim, when I bought it I installed a chip but forgot about the LF, but I've been running the console for about a year now and so have a lot of my friends and none of us has installed the sub zero, yet there's been no problems. Is it more of a 'Better to be safe than sorry' or will my laser definitely get fried at some point?

I have the Sub fix chip so I can install it if I have to, although I really couldn't be bothered unless it's absolutely essential.
