Has anyone try FF XII with swap magic? Will it work or not? I tried it but it didn't work.
Please let me know so I don't keep wasting my DVD, Burning again and again.
Thanks to any help

Most DVD5 games should work with swap magic. FF12 won't work with an HD, however.

What PS2 and what version is your PS2? What DVD media are you using to play FF12? What burn program have you tried to burn FF12 with? If your PS2 is an old fat PS2, I'm assuming your PS2's laser might be close to its end and worn out. Try testing your other burnt games to see if you're having troubles with playing anything else. Depending on what DVDs you've been using to burn your games, you might want to consider doing a DVD media brand swap because all I know is if you're using CMC MAGs to burn a game that takes up practically the whole disc, you're infinitely better off doing a switch since bad quality media has low boot rates especially for games which require the PS2's laser to read out near the edge of the rims of the disc.

Italian PAL version of the game here, and SCPH-50001 (V9) ps2, swap magic 3.6 works like a charm....

Since you've mentioned quote "Please let me know so I don't keep wasting my DVD, Burning again and again." I'm assuming it is a copy FF12 game and not the original you are having trouble with. And when you say "swap magic 3.6 works like a charm..." I'm guessing this is the only game you're having trouble with so far.

And btw, you didn't tell me what DVD media brand you are using or possibly the media ID of the DVDs you've been using to burn FF12. Look here for a list of media IDs although a bit outdated perhaps. Reason I ask what DVD brand you're using is because there are known brands which perform quite poorly when data needs to go near the edge of the rims like FF12 which I believe is around 4.2 gigabytes in size.

Edit: I forgot you said you were using the PAL version of FF12. In that case, your PS2 is PAL also?

I am using Memorex DVD-R, and I used Nero to burn the dvd.
Do you think I should use another media or other program to burn the dvd insted of Nero?
Please help, thanks.

Definitely try another DVD media brand like Sony or Verbatim you can get nearby rather than using the Memorex DVDs you're using. Depending on the media ID you tell me your Memorex DVD-R is you can check here, you're much better off using another brand if they code out as CMC MAGs.

Edit: how you bothered trying to play FF12 on another DVD brand by any chance?

I have tried Verbatim and it still doesn't work.
When I swap the dvd, the screen just stayes black and nothing happens. IT doesn't load. I am using swap magic 3.6 and magic switch.
So can anyone please tell me how to copy game using Nero or other software that works?
Thanks

I've backed up this game by ripping it with DVD Decrypter and burning with Nero 7, at 4x on Sony disc and it plays fine with swap magic 3.6.

I recommend DvdDecrypter or Alcohol 120%

DvdDecrypter is no more, so I can't use that program anymore. Anyother recommendation?

You could try using either IMG Burn or Alcohol 120%. And what media ID was on your Memorex DVD-R and the Verbatim you tried to use? Knowing those would be nice. See my previous post(s) for a link. What burner are you possibly using and have you already updated your firmware for it? Having an updated firmware for your burner can do wonders like how a buddy of mine thought his Lite-On burner was totally gone and gave it to me for free =P. Also, have you considered doing a TOC refresh? I haven't done TOC refreshes at all really and had no need for it. Maybe you'll have a better chance for getting the game to boot like some have done when using TOC refresh for other games. Look it up here in these forums for a better explanation than what I can give you. And when I asked if your PS2 was PAL too, you didn't answer. Is it?

I just got tired of trying it and finally I bought the game. I think it's worth it with $20.00 price drop.
But anyway thanks a lot for your time and help.
