@tazzy81
You have posted this in another thread. You shouldn't multi-post your questions.

Sry thanks for answering my question in the other thread. I didn't really realise I had posted in two sections cos I have two different threads up and when I submitted one there was an error went back and submitted. Seems like I did it twice but submitted in two different threads. Is there a delete function of a post. Sorry I can delete one if there is that function. Cos I wasn't sure which thread I was going to post to and ended up with two.
Actually I checked and appears that my system is still 2.2E so it's still PAL. But I did check the Wii Region Patcher Compatibility List and it says that certain games like Big Brain Academy and Mario Party are one of the games that don't work. I've used region free to try and patch it but it still doesn't work as the list said so anyway. Oh well I was told 80% of NTSC games would work on the wiikey I guess I just happen to download within the 20% that didn't work

Let me just get this straight. Is the SPM problem on the PAL Wii considered a complete brick or a "semi-brick" like this one. Because my PAL wii is still bricked and I would really like it to work again :)

I read mean posts but couldnt find the answer to my question (or maybe i overread it, its quite late)
I have a japanese wii, semi-bricked.
can I reset the firmware without entering the settings menu? (I read something about removing a battery somewhere?!)
and my wii isnt connected to the internet, can I download the newest j fw on my computer and burn it, or is it not possible to download updates if not connected via wii?
help will be greatly appreciated.

what will happen if you play the US Big Brain Academy disk on a semi-bricked Jap Wii? will it ask for an update? if so, will it fix the semi-brick?
Try and you might, don't and you won't!

You can not play an NTSC(USA) Big Brain Academy on an NTSC(J= Japanese) Wii system. No matter if your Japanese Wii system is semi-bricked or not bricked at all.
The game is not region compatible with NTSC(Japaneses) Systems. This has also been discussed in previous post in this thread. Why the hell do people not read the complete thread before asking questions that have already been answered.

How the heck is an NTSC(USA) region update going to unbrick a NTSC(Japaneses) semi-bricked Wii?
The reason that your NTSC(Japanese) Wii system has been semi-bricked is by updating it with an NTSC(USA) or PAL game disc that had an update on it.
I would suggest going to the below link and learn what a region brick issue is before you completely F**K up your Wii.

Hey guys, I have a PAL Wii with 2.2E firmware and have the double channel thing because of running Big Brain Academy USA-NTSC a while back. Now I got the PAL version but I'm afraid to put it in. Has anyone tried running their proper region of BBA after semi-bricking it with another region?

First off if you have a 2.2E firmware and all options are working properly you have not semi-bricked your system. You just added a duplicated news/weather channel that really isn't considered a brick issue.
If you have a PAL Wii system and a PAL game disc then your fine to play it. Playing it will not do anything worse to your system then what has already been done. If anything it would correct issues you may be having.
If your getting tired of the duplicated channels on the first page of your Wii menu then move the duplicated channels to the 3rd page out of the way. Do this by doing the below...
hold down the B+A at the same time (Make sure you hold down B first before pressing A) on the duplicated channel. Then "slide" the channel to another page.

That's a good question! I was looking for the same thing, but nobody has answered it yet. Anybody?
If the firmware is downloadable somewhere, and then if we could just burn it on dvd, put it in our wiis and flash it, the problem is solved with less effort: We wouldn't have to look for the proper updates imbedded in specific games and wait until it has been downloaded.

Thanks for the quick answer. That's too bad.
Another question:
Is there somewhere a list that says what firmware version each game has embedded?
This whould help people find a game that can both unbrick their console and they can get their hands on the easiest.

The JP game Boogie has an 3.0J firmware update. However, you either gotta buy the game or download it from BT. There is no way you can get the backup of the JP version Boogie.
I just let my wii be what it is. It is semi-bricked. JP version.

I would like ur help guys, I have a PAL wii chipped with a wii ninja chip and being an idiot I put a copy of the US NTSC Pokemon game in. This has resulted in additional wii news and weather channels appearing, currently it has not effected my use of the wii but it is annoying to have these additional channels and would like to know if there is any danger of it bricking completly and also how to remove the new channels? will the big brain solution work for a PAL wii?

Hi, I think I have semibricked my wii (US) with Donkey Kong Taru Jet Race (NTSC-J). Can I unbrick it with BBA (US)? I don't know what update does Donkey Kong have (2.0/2.2 J).
Thanks

By Semibricked what do you guys mean??
Mine won't play any Wii games (burned or original) When I click to play a wii game it always asks me to update even tho my wii is completely upto date. The update its asks to do always fails.
I can play all gamecube games tho.. both burned and original. So is mine "semibricked"
Once a new update comes out should I be fine if I update through the game?
