Lately, i've checked out the media guide at TeamModders.com. Apprently, TDK and Memorex are considered ''First Class Media''. And Memorex is at a higher position then Sonys which i use. So should i switch to Memorex?
Both TDK and Memorex are pretty good depending on your luck, what you're looking for and what you know you'll be looking for. Most good Memorex and TDK DVDs are 8x and below although it isn't entirely fool-proof that you'll get what you want it. Some people have it down to a science where they can identify the container with certain markings and get what they want most of the time while others like myself haven't had such good fortunes of getting them 50% of the time. If you really want to know if TDK and Memorex are good, look up their media IDs and see what you get. The typical bad Memorex and TDK happen to be coded out as CMC MAGs for their media ID; however, the strangest thing is the results you could get with two different brand CMC MAGs with the same media ID. I found TDK CMC MAGs tend to be 1000% better than Memorex CMC MAGs although TDK CMC MAGs aren't too good themselves either than Memorex CMC MAGs by a long shot.
Personally, I think Memorex is probably ranked much lower than TDK because, not only is the quality far worse than TDK, but they do a lot more outsourcing compared to TDK, which in turn means less good media produced by Memorex although the good Memorex aren't really that great if you ask me.
I just checked teammodders.com. TDK is about 1st-class (top) while Memorex is 2nd (medium) it seems. Are you sure you didn't actually read Maxell instead and mistaken it as Memorex?
Edit: You should learn about media IDs (not much to really know about them actually) on identifying the good and the bad DVDs you'll be using. If you compare results, you'll notice the difference and see what works for you. I wouldn't completely switch to TDK or Memorex until you try them yourself and your PS2.
LOL weird im sure last time it was memorex not maxell. Maybe they updated the list... anyway, it is at a higher position the Sony. Does this mean i should switch to maxell?

and those Sony discs are considered to be first class. But with each burner and PS2 being different that is only a guide line to follow. YOur may very well burn and play a TDK better. And to help always make sure you have the most current firmware on your burner.
Example: I used Philips for a year when i first started. I had a 100% success rate with those when they were burned correctly with my Sony DRU-700A burner. Worked flawless, yet they are 3rd class media.
My friend uses TDK exclusivly with his Sony DRU-710A burner and they work every time for him. We have similar systems with the same modchip (actually both systems are mine i just gave him one). He tries to play my philips and i try to play his TDK and there are audio/video problem. Yet each of use can take those discs and copy, make a copy of the back up onto our brand of media and they will work flawless in our machines. So the game is there, the burn is good, but the PS2 just has a problem with reading the disc.
Actually, most games that i burn with the Sony DVD-Rs work very very well. But im just asking if i should switch media because there might be better discs then sony which works even more flawless...
i have tdk 8x TTG02 and it sucks.like it works but you just know your laser isnt satisfied until you get quality media that works EVERYTIME.i got a pack of 50 Verbatim 16x for 14.99 Canadian Dollars which is less than Memorex and they are MCC coded.how can you go wrong?
