Okay for one why the hell would anyone want to send a custom firmware PSP off to Sony?!? You won't get yours back and they will have the latest firmware on it so you can't downgrade.
@PetaHG
Give me a while as I am going out I will research your problem later and see if I can't get you a fix

man,...i dunno what to do...because there are different articles about thsi problem on the net...and different cases..
some people got thsi problem once they updated..soem ppl said it was just the old versions that had thsi problem...some people said it was because they dropped it...If its just a firmware problem I can possibly fix that but if its internal I probably cant. I'm definitely not goan go sell it right away. I think I'm just gona read up more on the topics and maybe try seraching for a signal in other places.
And I really dont feel like selling it again and then buying a new one,
Its just really weird that sony,just gives u a brand new one, I think they know theres some bad internal problem with the psp.'
I dont think its from dropping it..I mean sure that could be the reason but maybe there's something else that caused it.

WEll ive read some more
1. I think what it comes down to is that either the wifi doesnt work cuz i have custom firmware
2. or it fell with the previous owner
I read about this on wikipedia and they were talking about wifi it said: "The PlayStation Portable features a standard IrDA port located on the top left of the device. To date, the only games or applications to leverage this feature have been homebrew. This can be used to control many TVs as well as other infrared devices."
So im goan have to learn how to downgrade to 1.5 from 3.4oe and then ill just upgrade back to 3.4 and see...but before that Im gona look for more info.

I checked this at a PC away from home, so I still can't leave a lengthy reply. But just keep your head up we will get this fixed. In the meantime try loosening up by playing some homebrew and/or emulators on your new custom firmware PSP!

lol...i like your thinking...nah dont worry, i'm not depressed, i didn't buy the psp just for internet I mostly bought it for the games and for teh fact that you can do so much with it, as in customize and make it into the universal electronic device. I bought it as a fun project I could do, that I could learn a lot and on teh side use all its functions :)
So don't worry im not frustrated here i just want to fix it.
But an update on what i've found out. I read somewhere that a guy had teh same problem, so he downgraded his psp and upgraded, and then it worked for him perfectly..which is what I'll probably do before I do anything drastic liek buy a new wifi card and take apart my psp and switch...because that is what another guy did..and it worked for him, after he did that teh wifi worked for him perfectly.
So i'm goan gather more info...
thnx for all your support guys

Before doing that try this....
Quote: First of all, psp can browse the internet with its simple browser.
BUT! What you may not know is that there is a bug where when you try to search or use a wireless lan connection (WLAN) the psp may say something like:
Internal Error
(80410A0B)
To fix this without any memory loss, take out the UMD which is in the psp, and also take out the memory card.
Next, go to settings, then system settings and click restore settings, the psp may freeze up, but it is not broken, take out the batter pack and put it back in, the settings should be restored and all should work.
Sony hotlines dont seem to tell you how to fix it, many people often go buy a new or swap their psps, but all you need to do is this!
Sounds like the exact issue your having; getting "Internal Error (80410A0B) when trying to access a unencrypted WiFi signal.

Actually scratch that, why not reinstall firmware 3.40 OE-A? You would have a fresh install again :). As I don't have a PSP and don't have the ability to check this lets ask mrmcman.
@mrmcman,
Do you know if you can install custom firmware 3.40 OE-A while on 3.40 OE-A?

WElll...I've read a lot articles and there wre two things that seem to fix teh problem
Number 1...You can downgrade your psp and then upgrade again and it shoudl work..It looks like for some peopel it is just firmware brew problem or they just didn't update.
Number 2...You can buy a new wifi card off ebay for 10 bucks and take apart ur psp and put it in. That seemed to work for few people. I read that the wifi technology is still in development so something can break really easy. You don't neccesirily need to drop the psp to get thsi error. Some people got this problem over night. I think it is just a bug that sony hasn't completely fixed and its a pain in the ass for them since like 1/4 of the population is returning their psps.
I read a post where a guy returned his psp and they gave him back a fixed one and then it worked for few minutes or days and then itdidnt work again. Then some other post this guy gets this error every ten minutes. Liek once it works for him, then it doesnt.
So in conlucion, it can either be a firmware error or internal device error.
So I think the best solution here is to do teh downgarde and then upgrade.

dont just downgrade the psp to firmware 1.5 and then update it to offcial psp firmware 3.40. downgrade your psp to 1.5 then to custom firmware 3.40 OE-A or even to 3.30 OE-A. Heres how u do it: get an app called RECOVERY mode and then put that 1.5 EBOOT inside the RECOVERY folder and rename it UPDATE.PBP the put that recovery folder inside the GAME folder and then take the USB off ur psp and turn ur psp completely off and then turn it on while holdin the R button and click run program at /PSP/GAME/REC

u know, i have no idea. just recover to 1.50 then re-flash 3.40 oe-a. i think u could recover to a previous custom firmware, but that involves an entirely different recovery folder.

Makes sense.
@PetaHG
Download the 1.5 Recovery Easy Installer and install it if you haven't already done so. Then initiate a recovery by holding "R" while booting the PSP. There should be a option to run program at "PSP/Game/Recover" or something like that. Run that and it will return your PSP to firmware 1.5. Then you can upgrade back to 3.40 OE-A.
