i live in gloucester and i have always wanted to have the internet up and running on my psp.

my friends have psp's and they can get up the internet exept me and
i was wandering do you have to have a wireless internet connection on your computer so that you psp can pick up the signal?
i have done the internet connection but it always comes up on screen

a connection error has occorred the attemp to obtain the ip address timed out

is there any way out of this?

Well for starters you need to have a router. =] Do you have a router?

Just get a wireless router. You can find pretty decent one for under $50.

a router is a device that transmits your computers internet connection into a wireless one, that devices like the psp can use.

well as long as the strength of the signal is 50% or higher you can, but most routers arent that strong, unless you go to a hotel of a MacDonald's or something.

in my house i can pick up signal all the way across the house, but thats just me. in my friends house i go in his room and the signal goes down to like 41 percent. and thats only about 30 feet from the router.
