Would a "disk image" file work?

Hey...I have a game thats not an .iso or a .mds file. It says "disk image"...would that be ok to burn, or do I have to do something different?

Yes. Burn it with DVD Decrypter. Just make sure your ps2 is modded + you are using good media.

Ok, yeah, i burned it to a blank dvd disk using dvd decryptor. It was maxell, which is a good disk. Its max is 16x speed so i burned it at 8x, and it doesnt work on my ps2. I mean, like, I use swap magic, and press boot and it boots up, but you know how right after you press X to boot the screen goes black before the game starts? Yeah...the game doesnt start. The screen just stays black.
What do I do?

Maxell aren't that good i think. Get Sony DVD-Rs and burn at 2x.
And are you swapping the discs?

Actually they're good, I googled it and they're as good as Sony, Pioneer, and TDK.
My computer doesnt work with DVD-R so i use +R...and yes i'm swapping the disks, it just goes black after I load them.
I have 4 backups.
One works fine, 100%
One loads up the logos and stuff, and you can hear the music at the title screen playing, but cant see the picture.
One loads up and is playable, but the loading times are insane...it takes literally 3 minutes to load the title screen.
and one goes to a black screen right when i boot it up, which is the one i'm talking about now.
So i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. Should I burn at 2x instead of 8x?

Get a new computer/drive. DVD+Rs have bad results with most PS2s. So you are MUCH better off using sony DVD-Rs because sony can be trusted. Unlike maxell...

What is the file extension? .ISO, .MDS, .CCD, .IMG, etc. are all disk image formats. You need be more specific. Also what game are you trying to burn? The more information you give us, the better.
If you don't see the file extensions, open Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types.

Omri, I cant afford a new computer so thats out of the question.
As for Ortho, Two of them are .Iso and one of them works perfectly, while the other works but the load times are like 3 minutes a piece. The one that wont work at all i think is .Img, but it just says "Disk Image", i guess thats what it means.

Im not sure if .img will work. You don't have to buy a new computer, you can just buy an external drive.

If you can burn it fine, it shouldn't matter what format the game is in. If that is the case, the problem could very well be your burner and/or the media you are using. Try updating the firmware for your drive and trying quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
I hate to repeat myself, but what are the games you are trying to play?

Dosen't matter. If he's using DVD+Rs it's still pointless. Unless...
what's your PS2 version?

Well, one of the guides on here said to use quality media, and they named a few good types, and one of them was Maxell. Plus, I checked on the internet and Maxell is one of the best...its like the top 5 or something.
I would booktype with DVD+R but my burner isnt one of the ones named on the list in Dvd Decryptor.
Anyway, my ps2 is a slim one...i think its v3 or v4 not sure...but the model number is SCPH-70001, and its not the latest, because its not silver, but its one of the latest.
The games I'm playing -
Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (works perfect)
Shadow of the Colossus (takes several minutes to load, then works)
Gta: San Andreas (right when i press "boot", it goes to black screen0
The other game was Guitar Hero 2, but actually forget that, cause I think I did something wrong with that since I had to add my own custom songs and stuff...

Sorry to double post, but would it help to reburn them at lower speeds? Maybe I burned it so fast that it didn't take its time and therefore they don't work? (Even though one of them did)
Or they could even be just bad burns...

I would simply recommend you opting for a media brand switch rather than using Maxell. While Maxell isn't generally bad, when it comes to overall performance, I rank Maxell the same as Ritek and Sony. The best quality media brands in my opinion is Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden; hence, I suggest you do a media switch like orthogonl has suggested if you can't get such and such game working on your Maxell DVDs.

My experience with Ritek and Sony is that when burning games that require around the 4 gigabyte mark, they burn poorly to my dislike like GTA: San Andreas that has like a 4.12 gigabyte TOC or something I think. I generally don't play such small games, and if I do, I make a multi-game compilation to save space.
However, in your particular case, I think doing a media brand switch would do the opposite effect rather than helping you out. Try getting a new burner like a LITE-ON or BENQ since those have the option of booktyping DVD+Rs to DVD-ROMs and work generally well. If you want to try and salvage your old burner, try updating your burner's firmware using DVD Decryptor's option you can easily find listed.
Edit: Maxell 16x DVDs huh? While I am being a hypocrite, I must suggest you stay away from those 16x Maxell DVDs and try downgrading. You're better off going for the 8x and below Maxell DVDs than using 16x. The only 16x I'll ever suggest anyone to use are Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden secondly. It's strange how I recommend Verbatim above Taiyo Yuden since I use Taiyo Yuden primarily for gaming, but I generally found 16x Verbatim DVDs to perform sensationally (not exaggerating) to my liking than what Taiyo Yuden can offer on 16x though 8x Taiyo Yuden DVDs and 8x Verbatim DVDs are another story.
