I have been trying to flash my ms28 drive, but when I enter the read command at the command promt, I keep getting an error, and after trying different timing combinations, none are working, this is what I get on the screen:

Can anyone help me out?

Ok, before creating the boot disk, I realised the sata card had an exclamation mark beside it in device manager, I reinstalled the driver, and it was okay, but it has come up again, when I am trying to create a disk using "Xtreme Boot Maker", I dont get an ID or I/O coming in the field, it says MTKFLASH cannot support this device. I think this may have something to do with the problem, the device has an exclamation mark beside it again in device manager, can anyone help?

right click on that and unisnstall the device. Remove the card while pc is off and then reboot without card. Then shut down and reinstall card and start back up. then reinstall the drivers and see if that works

when you reinstalled did it prompt you for drivers or did you install driver before connecting card. Some hardware requires that you install drivers before installing card

Have tried both ways, but I cant install the driver without the card, because the driver software requires that the card be plugged in before hand.

did u try following the ms28 and via6421 tutorial?
using the mtkflash commands instead of samhack?
sorry im not sure if i read an answer in your replies above, so did u use the mtkflash r /m orig.bin to get the original
then mtkflash w /m x53x.bin(w.e u named ur hacked firmware) to put in the hacked
about the exclamation mark now i think the real problem is the driver is not installed properly for sure! google installing drivers and try to do it manually instead of the auto install that comes in the disc!
first in device manager delete the device
click the refresh button that detects any new devices
when it is detected i think it will ask you to install drivers maybe not so just click the device and press update driver
browse the driver disc or cd and select the win2k or winxp drivers either one should be in there, most likely win2k for me!

I only tried the samhack commands, should I try the normal mtkflash commands and see what happens?
I've tried installing the driver both manually and automatically, but that exclamation mark is not going, no matter what I do, I even tried a system re-install with no luck.

I managed to sort the problem out yesterday, I downloaded and installed a more earlier driver, that sorted the driver issue out, I then made a new bootable floppy, and flashed my ms28 drive, works perfect now. Thank all of you for your help.

The reason why I didnt assume it was the driver was because it was the actual driver that came with the card, and I have installed my PCI cards with no driver issues. This was the first time I had to find a specific driver for the card.
@Sudds
Is there a specific driver for the PCI cards?

I had a problem where on starting the 360 using enable 0800 i had the mark against the driver, and windows wasnt detecting the drive because of this, so i uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled some new ones and it did the trick.
