Hi everybody,
In a puff of smoke, My Direct TV HR10-250 died, but I think it was a system issue and that the data is safe. Direct TV rushed me a HR20 that is non Tivo (sigh).

I'd like to know if anyone has had experience connecting the drive from a Tivo directly into a PC. I have access to both Windows Vista and Linux Ubuntu builds. I've seen programs such as DirectShow Filter Dump and TyConvert, but they all access the Tivo data while it's still running. I need to obviously access the data another way since the tivo isn't working. I don't have access to another Tivo.

The Tivo failed by shuting down by overheating although the fan was still running. I removed the cover and aimed a giant fan over the top and still only stayed up for a few minutes.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated! I'm definately a noob here, the Tivo was so easy to use!
