find out dvd drive model without opening xbox?

is it possible to check what model dvd rom drive i have without opening the xbox? i know i got a hitachi drive but not which one.
isnt there a way to tell by looking at the code or something or the back? like the psp firmware by looking on the box.

each 360 box has a little flap and under it is the manufacturers date. and there is a thread here just today that will give you a link to a list. you check that list against the date on the box and it should tell you which drive it would have.

PS-you really want a Samsung MS25 or MS28 to be honest.
