How to use Acru 8Mb memory card (PS1) ?

Hi!

I have a 8Mb Acru memcard for my PS1. The memory itself consists of 8 blocks I think, and the actual block is reprezented by a number on the card, the PS can only use the actual block. It looks something like this
My problem is that i cant change the actual block. Someone tried to help me once on this forum, and he told me i had to hold R1, L1, and SELECT at the same time, and then i could change the actual block by pressing or releasing R1 or L1. Now when i do this, the number on the card begins to flash, but i cant do anything after that.
If someone has the same type of card/problem and has the solution, please help me.
