Go Here and find your fw version with the appropriate motherboard. Then follow the instructions carefully.Let me know how it goes.

ok thanks and one last question, can you play downloaded japanese games with 1.5?
i just want to be sure because i don't want my psp to brick.
and btw what does brick exactly means?

If you brick your PSP, whenever you turn it on the screen will stay black and stay that way for a few minutes, then it will shut off. You cannot recover from it and your PSP is useless.

Not sure about 1.5 but when you get to 1.5, I would reccommend upgrading to custom firmware so you can run homebrew and ISO's and stuff, and i think you can play the PS1 games on custom firmware. Not sure about the japanese games but i would think you could =]

and if japanese games dowsnt work can it brick my psp?
i know i have a lot of questions but understand me, i want to have as much information as i can get before i downgrade.

Running the games wont brick because its not messing with the flash on you PSP so you should be safe there. As of how to get custom firmware, get the custom firmware files from download.qj.net. It will come with a readme file, but if you have questions ask because i have done it before

Go here and pick custom firmware. The latest is 3.40oe-a but i use 3.03oe-c. Both are great but i am using 3.03oe-c till all the bugs get worked out of 3.40oe-a
