First of all you shouldnt double post (the mods hate that). And secondly what do you need help with. I know you wan to get on the internet but do you not know what to do at all or is there some problem getting a connection or what?

i followed all the directions but it says a connection error has occurred the attempt to obtain the ip address timed out

Do you have a weak signal? If you do move closer to the router. If not then you may need to upgrade your router to the latest version.
