PS2 Disc Tray Problem

i recently replaced my ps2 lens balancer of my unit. it is the plastic attached to the lens which is attached to the side rollers that makes the lens move forward and backward.

i removed the top cover, removed the tray cover, leave the tray open to replace the balancer. after replacing the balancer i tested my unit by powering up the unit, the tray closes, powered off the unit, manually placed the DVDR game over the tray, put the magnet that makes the disk stable, switched-on the unit. the game booted up all is working.

i assembled the unit again by placing the covers. tested the unit again after assembly, after pressing the power-on button, the tray opens to my amazement. i tried to ignore it by inserting the game again on the tray and pressing reset. the tray closes and the game does not boot anymore. i opened-up the unit again tried to manually boot the game, it does not work anymore.

the other thing i observe with my unit now is when i press the power button for a long time to power-off the unit, the blue-light on the open tray button blinks, then both light remains still for some time before the unit powers-off.

what seems to be the problem with my unit? any suggestions to solve my problem?
