i have old firmware on my xbox. the question i have is what is actually hacked the dvd drive or the harddrive. and if i got another harddrive can i play on live without any problems.

as of right now the hdd is just for saving and downloading content of live marketplace. the dvd drive firmware itself is hacked. enabling it to read backup media. the hdd will not do anything for live, if you have samsung drive just upgrade to iextreme 1.2/1.2b and you should be fine.
