If u have more than one serial port make sure the one u are using corresponds with the one u are downloading from .( ie if downloading from com 1 on downloader10 make sure its com 1 a back of pc )

first of all you might have wrong cable cos you need a null modem cable db9f to db9f and not rs232 serial and also when you have the right cable make sure you have the rs232 adaptor installed onto your computer with the little disc that comes with it and then assign it to the right com port between 1 to 4

thanks alot tempo2006 for speed reply. i bought in mapline rs232 null modem it was 9 pin f to 9 pin f, i do not have 9 pin on pc therefore i bought usb convertor wich conect the cable to pc, but i didn't have any cd to installed, mapline tld me that is all u need, but wasnt working, and i tried rs232 medem aswell without using convertor, cos just connect the box straight to pc, also no result, but tomoro i'll go mapline again and write down what u said and c what happen.
thanks alot again.

yeah tell them you want a null modem cable and not an rs232 even though they look the same and you need an usb to rs232 adaptor and if thats what you have then you need a driver disk to install it onto your computer its only a little mini disk that could be hiding in the box but if there is none bring it back in and ask for the disk ... if your stuck for the driver disk you can download the driver .. havent got a link at hand for it but it can be got here somewhere

mate u have same my problem, i bought usb convertor and rs232 null modem but same thing happen, i return it back to the mapline.
im sure there is no connection between ur pc and the box, that was same 4 me, how u know there is no connection;
if u disconnect the cable from pc, u still c the download bar without movement, so if there was connection the bar going to move forward.

ok since u have everything i tell u some thing
1. make sure the cable u bought is rs232 null modem
2. i had chat wd Tempo last nit in this thread he recomend to install driver for usb convertor, so try to install 1 of this driver im not sure which 1 its jus read it and try, if u get any result and updated ur box plc let me know, so i do the same.
best of luck.

man i gave up really, i think its usb converter problem, obviously there is no connection between pc and digivox whatever i do.

downloading bar will not move because there is no connection between ur box and pc.

but the best thing is if u buy sr232 null modem cable and find a computer with serial port so there is no need for usb converter, that is only way it works, now im waiting to find some 1 who have pc with serial port.

gd luck man.

yes some work some dont it is a right pain,do u have a pc in the house,as i bought myself a new pc with no serial port and clever techguy knows me so well he fitted one anyway which is great,it is well worth considering getting one fitted for updating all boxes.

i also have an acer pc and yes usb but cannot update boxes and i never bothered about a converter but i was told there is something else i can use,but will not fit mine,it is a pcmcia rs232 serial adapter which is a card which fits into side of laptop for flashing it about 5 inches by 2 inches ,but my laptop takes a smaller one,itis a plug and play device with no bull.lol
