Ok, my brendon decided to get the swap magic and magic keys (as he has a slimline version). Its over a year old and so the warrenty is void. Anywho, the console was in full working order. However, when he was installing the magic keys, 1 and 2 went in fine, but he couldn't get 3 to work. At some point in time(possibly when trying to fit the 3rd key) the console stopped working. Even now, with all keys removed, the console will show the standby light on, but when pressing it to turn it on, will go green for a second, and then revert to red. The TV doesn't come up with the ps mem card screen at all, and shows at all times "no signal". Does anyone know what he has done wrong, or what has happened, or most importantly, how to fix it.
Ails.

Your friend (brendon?) or whoever probably did something accidental when he was installing Magic Key 3, or Key C, the one with the hook. By any chance did he attempt to try and install Magic Key 3 while the PS2 was on so he could test if the disc would spin when the lid was open? If so, the problem could be he most likely might have touched the PS2's motherboard with the Magic Key but instead of hitting the switch you're suppose to hit with the hook (like this), which is underneath the metal hinges where you are to install Magic Key C, he fried a fuse or something instead. He could try and open his PS2 and see if there might possibly be a burn mark or a burnt fuse.

If so, then there are ways to fix it but unless you are experience with using a soldering iron, similar to soldering a mod-chip onto your PS2's board, then I would highly suggest you hire someone at a reliable place like teammodders.com and see what they could do. If you really must solder the fuses yourself, try searching here in these forums for a similar situation as it was here where I heard a few people attempted to fix a similar problem to yours and done so by soldering some fuses together for what the switch would have done if it was intact.
