I have been looking at mod chips for some time now. but I am wondering if there is any way to use burned games without a mod. like, how do companies burn their games and why can't we burn them that way too?

Original game discs are "signed" by M$ as they are produced. The original Xbox bios checks the disc as it tries to load to make sure it has this signature or it won't load it.
The basic function of the modchip is to load a hacked bios instead of the original Xbox bios so that you can get around this.
