Thanks again! The link was GREAT! Is there any type of a guide that tells you what the quality of the media is once you code it out? I would hate to have to call on you every time I buy a new spindle to inquire of it's quality:) What happens when u buy a spindle and it codes out as "junk"? You can't take it back to the store, can u?

The MID code has nothing to do with quality. The only way to determine quality before recording is with equipment that costs as much as a house. What you want to know is how good the recording quality is after you record on a particular drive. That either requires experimentation or some confirmation from someone who has your identical model drive and firmware version with a particular MID code.

Good recording quality indicates a good match with your drive and a good disc. Poor recording quality could mean a poor match with your drive with either a good disc or a bad disc. If there are visible flaws such as black marks or scratches on the bottom of the disc after recording, that disc is bad. If there are none, it is very difficult to determine the quality of the recorded disc. Poor recordings may mean trying to update the firmware of your drive in the hope that a different write strategy was added to your drive or switching to another brand. The Verbatim media you have are one of the two most compatible brands on the market, and you should expect good recording quality with any good drive.

That site is so full of nonsense that it is difficult to sort the truth from the silliness. The ratings are based on annecdotal reports which are indicative of compatibility much more than quality. There is no evidence that the site even knows what the quality parameters are.

You can plug in media codes at this site and read lots of useful anecdotal remarks from users.

Did they code as MCC-003?

I've burned tons of the +4x MCC-002 Digital Movie quality discs without a single issue. Also tons of MCC-003 regular Verbatim data life. You'll like them.
