''He also kind of tried to go into how playing homebrew stuff or copied games is illegal. I did challenge him a bit on that asking how its illegal to play ripped games I owned; nothing illegal about it from what I've researched.

He skated around on that for a sec and just reverted back to their script I guess, "Sony only supports their newest firmware for users to use the PSP as Sony intended it to be used."
There is nothing illegal about playing a .iso of a game you own, its fair use rights. And homebrew is definetly legal. The only way homebrew could be considered illegal is if a homebrew maker used some code from a game developers game or Sony's softare/firmware. Yeah, definetly nothing illegal about homebrew. When you say he "skated around on that for a sec", probably cause he knew you were right about everything, playing iso's of games you own is perfectly legal and same with homebrew. If they told me they would only support users with the latest firmware I would say "Well thats to sucks because I'm using 3.40 OE-A! And if I should brick it I can save it from the recovery menu, just saved myself the $100 to ship it to you. And tech support? Pah, you ever heard of AfterDawn all the tech support I'll ever need." Then laugh out loud and hang up :)

And yes 3.40 OE-A is the best custom firmware to date.

what do u exactly mean by saying if i brick it i can just go to recovery mode?
i guess my question would be
1. how do u brick ur console (i know its not something u wanna do)
2. how to go to recovery mode, turn on + R? if so then what?
3. totally irrelevant... but what are the consequences to play online with a 3.40 OE on a iso?

thanks for ur help... to all those new little noob

If you brick it and are still able to access the recovery mode by holding the R trigger down while turning on the PSP then you should be able to save your PSP if you have installed the firmware 1.5 Recovery program/files. Basically it dwongrades your PSP back to 1.5 in the case of a brick.
Your questions...

1)Well you brick when you are righting new firmware/software to your PSP's flash and you lose power to your PSP. This renders the PSP unable to turn on. It's kinda like installing windows(firmware)and halfway through the install pulling the cd out(pulling the battery and/or memorystick out), sure you have half of windows but you need the other half of windows to actually make the pc(psp) turn on.

2)It is easy to get into recovery mode, with your PSP fully turned off hold the "R" trigger and with the trigger held turn the PSP on. You should come to a blue menu with many options. One of them is something like "Run Program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY" that will in the occurence of a brick downgrade your PSP back to firmware 1.5

3)I couldn't tell you if there are any "consequences" as I have never played the games online with custom firwmare. But honestly I don't see why it would matter/what it would do.

You know I have never dealt with multi-cd EBOOT's, I think a bit of googling is in order :)
