I'm not experienced with ps3 modding at all. But has anyone ever tried hooking up a dvd player or a bluray player to the ps3 via usb? I tried it with a ps2 game in a regular drive, and it tried to load for like 3 seconds. By load, mean that it shows that little thing at the top right corner. Couldn't anyone tinker with this, and try to get backups to work?

i have an external dvd writer that i sometimes hook to ps3 linux but the xmb recognizes it as a mass storage device it trys to load because its detecting whats hooked up but no this will not work for playing backups
