Personally, I bought an Xbox 360 because the price was better, but biggest of all: all my friends have xbox 360's and i can talk to them and play w/ them online. I've played PS2 online, and the experiance was not impressive at all, you had to buy a headset seperately in order to communicate and there were huge connection problems (of course that was the ps2 though.)I'm also a big fan of the ability to listen to music and play a game at the same time, that's huge for me. Another good reason i picked xbox though is because it's easier and more cost effective to back up my original 360 games, that way if one gets messed up, i can use my back up. The exclusive games are better also. true, ps3 has maybe 1 exclusive game i'd like to play (Resistance: Fall of a Man) but i have gears of war, halo and other games to fill that minor gap :D. last but not least, the ps3 is a beast, i don't know where i could put it :) lol

True, the 360 has roughly a 30% failure rate, but i can almost guarantee 90% of that 30, treated their 360 like crap.
That's my opinion

The 360's price technically isn't better. The time you buy the addons, you end up spending over 700 dollars compared to getting it all with the PS3. (Wi-fi,controller charger,Blu-Ray player)

Xbox 360 addons

- Controller charger $20 dollars
- Wi-fi adapter $100 dollars
- HD-DVD player $200 dollars

360 Premium $400

$ 400
100 +
200
20
= $720 + TAX

PS3 is going for $500 + TAX and you get all of that.

Note: That is if you are planning on buying the add-ons. But still, you save a lot buying a PS3, and its price really didn't deserve to get brought down. Its almost a steal to buy it now, though it is a temporary price cut.

True, xbox360 is more expensive if you buy all those accessories but if you don't, then its cheaper. Wifi, i dont need, i have my 360 connected directly to my router with an rj-45 cable. Charger, I have the plug n play kit, which cost me 10 buks, and finally the hd-dvd addon, I dont really need that, all I want a videogame system is to play.. well.. videogames!

What I don't understand is how people can quote the price of the 360 play&charge kit in this discussion. At least when the batteries DO die, you can change your batteries and not have to send the controller back to Sony.

You're correct: AFTER add ons, the 360 is about as much... if you're dumb and buy all the Xbox 360 brand name stuff. you can get the same stuff for much cheaper if you buy elsewhere http://www.google.com/products?q=xbox+36...h&hl=en&show=dd But I understand where you're coming from :)
Let alone other sources

I will just quote myself from earlier as to be "more equal"....you have to include "live" as that is what most people DO have. That is a given and cannot be contested.

Quote:

a 360 core = $300
live = $275 ($75 first year and $50 for 4 years additional)

That in itself is $575 dollars. So while it might be "cheaper" compared to a PRE price drop 60 gb PS3 look what you get additionally for $25 bucks

1) FREE Online
2) Card Reader
3) Hard Drive
4) BluRay Playability
5) RECHARGEABLE WIRELESS Controller
6) Optional Operating System
7) WIFI

I am sure there might just be a couple more but that should be sufficient. Now on top of that I didn't even use the LOWER price point! As well as the comparison is from MS's standard base model to Sony's full option model. Now, I am sure people can do the math if you compare an "Elite" with just XLive....and further more an "Elite" with similar options that are INCLUDED in the PS3 (Wifi, Rechargeable controller, HD playability, FREE Online etc.) for a mere $20 more.
And I re-iterate the $20 difference is over a 360 CORE price too...so even without the "add-ons" HD-DVD, Wifi adapter etc. it is still a better deal! (I forgot to add at that at the end of my previous post)

The problem I have is with Sony shoving Blu-Ray and Wifi down my throat.

1. There's no Wifi where I live.
2. I don't have an HDTV.

I bought a launch PS and a launch PS2, along with countless accessories AND I never had any problems with either of them. Unfortunately, Sony took a giant dump on me with the PS3 and killed the considerable brand loyalty they'd built with me. I worshipped that company.

Once MS does three things, I'm jumping on board with the 360:

1. Fix the damned crappiness of the hardware.
2. Release the 65nm chip.
3. Drop the Premium to $299 or the Elite to $399.

That being said, if a hack were released tomorrow that allowed me to play backed-up discs (not dumped on a HD) on a PS3 with Sony's firmware, I'd still go out and buy it with a smile on my face.

So yeah, I'm still on the fence, but leaning heavily toward the 360, despite being a giant Sony fanboy.

The PS3's controller has trigger sensitivity and a superior rumble feature called touch sence will be releaced in the near future. The PS3's controler also has a built in rechargable battery. I do agree ATM that if you want a wider variety of games to go with the 360 though.

Oh and guess what the 360 looks like?

I don't understand why so many people make a big deal out of rumble. I thought rumble was useless trash throughput the entire PS2 era.

^^^ The picture above is quite hilarious. I'd prefer my PS3 to be a BBQ over a Dell computer anyday.

Touch Sense is an advanced rumble feature that more accurately simulates whats happening, IE, if you get shot in the back on the left side the back left side only rumbles giving you a better reaction time in shooter games. And you would get the same feedback from the controller in racing games as if you shifted gears in real life. This is by no means the generic n64 rumble setup, Touch Sense is the next gen of rumble technology.

WTF?
People are quoting prices from launch? My 360 only cost about 300+i got a camera and free 12mo live for 70. And wifi wasn't 100 bucks -_- cmon. Plus a mic, and hd cables came with it. So it was definately worth 450 bucks to get it. And you don't need the hd-dvd because you can download hd movies directly to the hard drive.
And wth is a fanbot @_@

I bought both a PS3 and 360. PS3 isn't bad, but I played 360 A LOT more. BTW no rumble stands out like a sore some thumb to me in PS3 best 2 games, Resistance and Motor Storm. The controller feels dead in my hands playing driving or shooting games without rumble. It doesn't matter so much for other genres.

I only have wi-fi in my house, so I'm not gonna pay friggn' $130 for a little stick that sticks out the back of the system. Also, none of the features the 360 has really stand out in my eyes. My friends all have 360, but the games they play are all shooters and out of whatever was made for it, I only like one of the games they like(well they're my friends, but I don't really like them). And I'm a cheap kid. I'm not gonna pay for Live. I bought a PS2 for $1. Why pay $60 for maybe 20 digits when I can get an entire console for $1? And it was the FAT version too so I use cogswap with it! Now I'm not sayin' that the PS3 is a dime either, but in the long run, I think it's more worth it. I also have an HDTV, and an iMac, so I think that Blu-Ray would suit them well. Blu-Ray right now is doing better then HD-DVD, so that's another plus(correct me if I'm wrong).

So, ya. There's my 2 cents for 'ya.

1.) some people don't have HDTV's like myself and id be pissed if they threw it in the box and made me pay an extra 30 bucks.
2.) Here's the thing you can only use the Xbox style mic so ur confined to that one mic, with the Ps3 you can go wired, wireless, blue tooth, you can get them as big and powerful or as small and discrete as a cellphone headset and pretty much any headset is compatible with the ps3.
3.) Canadian dollars because him and myself are Canadian so its easier to post in our currency.
4.) You can download any movie and convert the movie, HD or not and put it on the hard drive.
5.) He was referring to how he could buy a console for 1$ with free online, as in 59 bucks short of paying simply for Live.
6,7.) "err... what?"

wow, this thread is still going huh. Well it will continue since there seems to be no real answer. The PS3 owners will say PS3 and the 360 ownsers will say 360, and it seems that about every point made has a counter point.

Like for example the price difference. People keep saying, well you have to add the $100 adapter, or wireless controller or HD DVD player. None of which is true for some people or systems. You see, some of us already had some of those things and do not need the game systems to do it. I had an Xbox Live compatible wireless router and gaming adapter for my Xbox, and if i didn;t a crossover cable is about $12. So the price of the system was all that had to be paid, in my case the only money i spent was for extras that i wanted, not things that i needed. Like a second controller, or rechargable batteries. I bought the premium system, an extra controller, two rechargable batteries and the quick charger, the VGA cable, 12 months of Xbox Live, and Call Of Duty 2 (used) all for about the price it costs for the PS3. So it would make the price about even after all of that. But of the people i know who own both, they play thier 360's more.

Like i said before, I am sure the PS3 is a good machine and has it's appeal. But they really need some games to draw people in. An don't use the "it's been out less time" junk as an excuse. They could have had better titles at launch if they wanted to, but they didn't. And since i am an FPS fan the games on the 360 are right up my alley. Nothing like a team of people playing something tactical like Rainbow Six Vegas.

So in closing, buy what ever the heck you like and be happy with it. Eventually i will own both systems i am sure, like it did with Xbox and PS2.

If this thread gets out of hand I will just close it so no one gets in trouble. But be careful.

Steimy I re-re-iterate

Again and that is at the PRE Price drop PS# if you do the math with the price currently, it is more for the 360 with JUST internet game playability.

there is no $75 charge for Live, it was just $50, But i can see your point that over time paying for Live it does add up. But they may find a fix for that like they did with Xlink Kai and the original Xbox.

What? the hd cables and all are still only 300 us dollars. And that is VERY cheap and a great value. You just get live, (or make a free 1 month account and upgrade later) and play. And like i said, I got a camera and live for 70 bucks, plus i could use it on ps3 too. So it was deffinately worth it imo :) And I was saying that $1 comparison was completely off topic and wrong. He's basically saying 360 is 1000 dollars while ps3 is 400 @_@ he said ps3 is 1 and 360 is 59 or something. And I was saying I could download a movie and not worry about converting it or buying an add on, since it comes in hd already... And once again, look at my sig if you do not believe I own a ps3
Back 2 ur regular program please =)

I said, why would I pay for Live when I can buy an entire gaming console alone for less money? Live is completely not worth your money at times... and you all have to agree. Some people are so racist and annoying. It's probably no different from the PS3, but then again it's free for the PS3 so who cares. I also read somewhere a while back that the PS3 servers are faster then the 360 ones(but that doesn't mean that there's no lag bacause some people don't have high speed).

PS3 is no different, that statement didn't convince me to believe anything I've met a whole lot of racist people on both ps3 and 360. I joined a game on warhawk, and got called a word (ryhmes with tiger) out of the blue. And you always have the option to mute them while you're in a game. So one sytem doesn't affect the people you meet. That's just the way some spoiled kids are. And I have to say that ps3 and 360 servers (speed online) are both pretty fast! The best online nextgen sytems to date. And you know that the price of 360 (even with extras) doesn't come to 500 bucks -_- and like i said, live is only 20 bucks off ebay. And you get movies, online demos, tv, and music videos for only 20 bucks. Most people wold say that's worth the price...
